Sunderland v Coventry Match Preview
Sunderland remain available to back at odds-against quotes across the board, despite visitors’ Coventry’s controversial decision to part company with club legend Mark Robins.
Standard logic says that if you can back the league leaders, who have won five of their six league home games and drawn the other one to an excellent Leeds sides, at home to a team that’s 17th at odds-against, you’ve done pretty well in normal circumstances.
That’s especially true, though, as they host a Sky Blues side that could be scarred by the acrimonious exit of a popular figure that’s delivered incredible results, consistently, for seven years.
The decision from owner Doug King makes life extremely difficult for anyone stepping into Robins’ shoes, including interim head coach Rhys Carr – any replacement risks becoming something of a step-father figure.
Sunderland weren’t at their best going forward in Wednesday’s goalless draw at Preston North End, but they retained their defensive diligence to record a ninth clean sheet of the campaign – and Regis Le Bris has key wide men in Patrick Roberts and Romaine Mundle to bring into the XI.
