T20 World Cup Cricket Betting Tips: England v Oman
England simply have to win their remaining two matches against Oman and Namibia by a massive margin to have any chance of qualification for the Super 8s. Things are hotting up for our T20 World Cup Betting Tips

- ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Group B
- Thursday June 13, 2024, 8pm UK
- Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound
As the West Indians would say ahead of Oman, “Oh man, England have got a problem.”
Jos Buttler will know things have to go perfectly from here if the defending champions are to qualify out of the group stage.
England have one point with two games left, Scotland five with one remaining. While England play Oman and Namibia, Scotland face the might of Australia. If there’s any rain offs in any of those three games, England are out. Buttler as captain and Matthew Mott as coach are surely finished.
Two wins from two takes it down to the decider of net run-rate, and England’s is significantly inferior to Scotland’s at present. They have to put their foot down in both games and win big.
I do expect England to win, but I will be swerving the outright price of 1/40. Instead, I’d be taking bet365′s boosted bet builder of an England win and openers Buttler and Phil Salt to score 30 runs apiece. That’s available at 13/4.
Here are our top cricket betting tips for Thursday’s match, plus the best betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
England v Oman T20 World Cup Betting Tips
England to complete victory in a hurry
It’s not so much what England have to do that worries me, but I can see Australia engineering a margin of victory over Scotland that makes it harder for their great rivals.
I can see them taking their foot off the gas in a chase.
Anyway, whatever England do, bat first or bowl first, they’ll need to do it in a hurry.
Phil Salt scored 37 against Australia and looked good at the top of England’s order, and Ladbrokes’ boosted 11/4 on him to score a fifty against Oman is enticing.
I’d also be interested in siding with Salt to be England’s top run-scorer in the match, at 7/2 with Paddy Power. Four of his top T20 scores in an England shirt, from 119 to 40, have come in matches in the Caribbean - all since last December.
When they bowl, I fully expect England to hit the Omanis with pace. Although he hasn’t taken a wicket in the first two games, Mark Wood will be crucial in this fixture.
He’s 18/5 with betfred to be his side’s top bowler, which I think offers good value. A three-wicket return and the Durham man would also reach 50 IT20 career wickets.
And finally, for this T20 World Cup betting tips preview, it is worth a couple of quid on betfair’s 17/2 on any batter in the match to score a century.
Now, I would urge some caution with this, because I don’t see an Oman batter posting a century.
So if England win the toss and bowl, the bet’s almost certainly off before the game’s started. But if England bat first, there’s got to be a decent chance of a ton. If I was you’d, I’d be taking this on with low stakes.
