Volvo China Open Betting Tips & Predictions
The DP World Tour swings from Japan to China this week
With the Volvo China Open representing the final tournament on the DP World Tour circuit before the second Major of the campaign — the USPGA Championship — it should give us a clear idea of how preparation is going and who looks well equipped.
Originally, the Volvo China Open was a mainstay on the DP World Tour for 10 years, but after a five-year hiatus, it is poised to make a grand return.
Last week, Yuto Katsuragawa continued a history-making season for Japanese players on the DP World Tour by clinching his maiden title on home soil at the ISPS Handa championship, and he was making just his fifth start.
Anyway, Hidden Grace Golf Club, which will be in the spotlight this week, boasts some generous fairways, although there are some large water hazards to contend with.
But who will claim the spoils this week? I have scoured through the betting markets and handpicked a couple of tips for your consideration.
Tom McKibbin dialled in for a big week
Among the potential angles, Tom McKibbin could well make a strong case.
Although he only has one DP World Tour title to his name, McKibbin has been in superb form, especially in the first few months of 2024 - apart from a missed cut at the Singapore Classic, he has enjoyed top-25 finishes in his other seven appearances.
Last week, the Ulsterman produced a superb final round at the ISPS Handa Championship, shooting a 65 to finish T7 on -11.
Of his performance metrics, McKibbin has been faring well for driving (ranked fifth) and stroke average (fourth), and he will relish his chances this week.
So, to tee things off, I’m going with McKibbin to enter the winner’s circle - he’s priced at an inviting 16/1 with Paddy Power, should you wish to pursue it.
Alexander Levy to cement top-four berth
A two-time winner, Alexander Levy is no stranger to success at the Volvo China Open.
That said, his last victory came six years ago, and it has been a long and barren run.
The Frenchman, however, has put up some impressive displays over the past few weeks on the Challenge Tour, where his last four starts have all yielded top-10 finishes.
Of his stats this term, Levy has made major improvements to his bunker game, and he sits 13th.
Anyway, while Levy may come up short this week, he could have an extremely encouraging week and clinch a top-four finish. One, which, if it has piqued your interest, is available at a sizzling 10/1 with bet365.
