WWT Championship 3-Ball Betting Tips - Day One

The PGA Tour is in Los Cabos, Mexico this week for the World Wide Technology Championship, and there are just a handful of tournaments left in this calendar year.
A familiar stopping point, the WWT, which was known formerly as the Mayakoba Classic, was established in 2007 and was staged at El Camaleon Golf Course before moving to the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal course.
However, there have been some distinguished winners over the years. Viktor Hovland, for example, is on the honours board, and he’s the only player to win it twice, lifting the title back-to-back in 2020 and 2021.
Earlier this week, I provided some insights and gave a preview of what to expect in terms of outright and round picks.
But with the tee times now available, it’s now time to share some 3-ball betting tips for you to mull over, plus our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
WWT Championship 3-Ball Betting Tips - Day One
Check out my three selections for the opening round at the El Cardonal course on Thursday - ideal for a 11/1 golf acca.
J.J. Spaun to beat Chez Reavie & Adam Schenk
J.J. Spaun has been inspired in the back half of the season. While 2024 started in an inauspicious manner with five missed cuts from his first six starts, he has been comfortably inside the top 30 of late.
In his most recent appearance at the ZOZO Championship, Spaun came home in T6 and he finished with aplomb, shooting a final round of 64 on the Sunday.
Adam Schenk has been plagued by missed cuts, and he hasn’t been in the upper echelons of the leaderboard since a T5 at the Texas Open back in April.
Similarly, Chez Reavie has struggled for consistency, although he ranks 13th for driver accuracy this season.
However, anything but a Spaun win here would be a surprise. I backed him to lead the pack going into the weekend, so for the first of my 3-ball betting tips, I’m leaning into Spaun.
Max Greyserman to beat Patton Kizzire & Lucas Glover
Coming into the closing stages of the season, Max Greyserman has been doing the business, and how.
He has accumulated more points than any other player (93.03) in the field since June 1, and he has cashed out for T33 or better in each of his past 10 starts.
Lucas Glover, who is also ranked inside the world’s top 50, will look to take advantage of the generous fairways, and he has hit a good run of form, chalking up three top-15 finishes in his past three starts.
Patton Kizzire, on the other hand, isn’t sitting pretty in the FedEx Cup standings, and he’s coming off the back of a missed cut at the Shriners Children’s Open.
After a two-week break, Kizzire should be feeling recharged, but Greyserman, who I tipped to win this event, should prove to be too strong.
Cameron Young to beat Harry Hall & Austin Eckroat
After an absence of over two months on the Tour, Cameron Young will have some pressure on his shoulders, as he will be the highest-ranked player in the field (32).
There have been some impressive displays from the American, and he’s 25th for SG: Off-the-tee this season which isn’t too shabby.
Harry Hall has looked impressive of late with just one round of 70+ carded in his last eight rounds, while Austin Eckroat has been cast adrift in recent weeks of tournaments.
Young is the most experienced player in this group, and I fancy him to prevail in this group on Thursday.
