Chelsea vs Ajax Predictions, Tips & Latest Odds

After three straight wins over three European giants Benfica, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, Chelsea welcome another, Ajax, to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The Blues have found the winning formula in recent weeks, but it has come with consequences.
For the fourth time in six games, Chelsea finished a win over Forest with ten men — this time thanks to Malo Gusto’s late red card. The Frenchman will sit out his ban this weekend, when Chelsea return to Premier League action against Sunderland.
Joao Pedro won’t be so lucky — his Benfica sending-off keeps him sidelined — and he joins a growing list of absentees. Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo, Benoit Badiashile, and Liam Delap all remain out, while Enzo Fernandez will need a late fitness check on his knee.
Ajax have just one victory in their last six outings and manager Johnny Heitinga is coming under increased pressure to keep his job in the Amsterdam hot seat.
We've got a few betting tips to cast your eye over ahead of kick-off.
Chelsea vs Ajax Tips
Here are our three top football tips ahead of the game.
Tip 1: Marc Guiu to score and Chelsea to win - 6/5
With Joao Pedro and Liam Delap missing, Marc Guiu is expected to be given a few more minutes by Enzo Maresca on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old has shown promising flickers over the past few cameos, coming on to see Chelsea turn draws into wins, and even if he doesn’t start on Wednesday we expect him to get some chances in the second half.
Ajax, meanwhile, are in rebuild mode. They’ve struggled defensively this season — vulnerable in transition and often leaving gaps behind their full-backs. Chelsea’s pace and Guiu’s poacher’s movement could exploit that all night.
Tip 2: Chelsea 3-0 Ajax - 15/2
Things are beginning to click for Chelsea, and despite a handful of injuries, Ajax look to be there for the taking for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Chelsea have scored in their last 10 outings and despite a few defensive frailties, look capable of scoring past any defence.
Ajax won’t be targeting this trip to London as one of their ‘must win’ Champions League fixtures this year, so an early Chelsea strike could well see The Blues switch to cruise control in the second half.
Tip 3: Sending off in the game - 11/2
Now, we’re not exactly expecting Chelsea to go a fifth game in seven with a player red carded, but Ajax’s frustrations could be more likely to boil over.
They’ve conceded nine goals in their last three games without a win and a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge could well see further cracks in Heitinga’s tenureship get exposed.
Chelsea have a slew of expressive wingers in their ranks, and a couple of mistimed challenges on a wet London evening could see a busy referee.
