Rangers weren’t perfect on Sunday in their 3-1 win against Kilmarnock but it was a much better performance and one that will give fans some level of encouragement.
Defensively it was a much better performance and aside from a Jack Butland howler, they would’ve kept their first league clean sheet since August.
Hibs made it two wins on the bounce after beating Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie and jumped up to third in the table, just three points behind Celtic in second.
Both sides have only lost once so far this season but have drawn too many, particularly Rangers

Tip 1: Rangers to win & both teams to score
As previously mentioned, Rangers haven’t kept a league clean sheet since drawing 0-0 with Celtic back in August and Hibs are the third top scoring team in the league so I don’t see that changing.
I do think Rangers will continue to improve though as they get used to the three in the back system that Rohl went with on Sunday. Rangers looked more solid defensively and having that width, with the support in the middle, made them a threat every time they were driving forward.
It looks as if players like Aasgaard and Diomande could thrive with that bit more freedom and license to roam so as much as I think Hibs will score, I predict that Rangers will score more.
Tip 2: Josh Mulligan to get booked
The wingback/midfielder has already received four yellow cards in nine appearances this season. With the way Rangers were set up on Sunday I can see their central midfielders not only receiving the ball plenty but spending lots of time on it.
Plenty of passes were threaded through to the likes of Aasgaard and Diomande who will look to turn quickly on the ball and drive forward. This is where I think Mulligan will pick up his booking. Aasgaard received the ball in tight spaces a lot on Sunday and his combination of close control and strength was a nightmare for any of the opposition in the middle of the pitch.
Mulligan is quick, aggressive and saw a move to Rangers collapse at the last minute in the summer, he will give his all to win the midfield battle which can sometimes be a negative for him, discipline wise.
Tip 3: Mohammed Diomande to get booked & Danilo to have 1+ shots on target
Diomande is the type of player that not only gets fouled a lot but gives a lot of fouls away. Due to the fact he gets fouled a lot he also gets frustrated quite easily which can lead to him fouling further. He’s had two yellow cards in seven total appearances this season and, as mentioned for Mulligan, I think the ball will be central quite often and it’ll be a tasty midfield battle.
In terms of Danilo, he looked sharp on Sunday and even with Rangers not fully up to speed, managed to get a goal from his only shot. I think this will be a more open game with Hibs fancying their chances at Easter Road so predict more shots at both ends.
Danilo will be keen to cement a starting spot having been somewhat frozen out recently, the best way to do that is to get shots on target and score goals, which I think he will!
