Middlesbrough vs Ipswich Tips, Predictions & Betting Odds

Two teams who were expected to be in the promotion battle take each other on to kick off the Championship weekend, we've got a big clash in the North East, as Middlesbrough host Ipswich.
The season start has been strong for Middlesbrough, beginning the weekend in second place, just a point behind the early pace setters Coventry.
Ipswich will be a little disappointed with just three wins from their opening eight, but they're in 9th, and have a game in hand on everyone above them, win that and they'd go third, that's how tight it is already at the top of the table.
Middlesbrough vs Ipswich Tips
I've got three tips for the game on Friday night, exclusively on the Free Bets site.
Tip 1: Ipswich to Win
I don't think it's too bold of me to suggest we've got a team on the up and a team on a downward spiral here.
Ipswich probably didn't want the international break, two wins and a draw before it, six goals scored and a big derby success over Norwich, things are moving very much in the right direction.
But it's the opposite for Middlesbrough, a blip maybe? Three games without a win, two draws and one defeat so not a complete disaster, but what is concerning is their lack of goals, scoring just once in that period, and kept off the scoresheet in their last two.
The best I've seen from Middlesbrough so far has all been on the road. At home, they've drawn 0-0 with Stoke, and recorded narrow one goal wins over West Brom, Sheffield United and Swansea, while losing 4-0 to Doncaster in the EFL Cup.
Of those wins, only the West Brom one impressed me, they should have been far more comfortable over Sheffield United and Swansea, given their positions at the time.
For Ipswich, they took time to get over a return to the Championship I think. Five games in, they'd not won, drawing three, losing one and losing on penalties to League Two Bromley in the EFL Cup.
The betting market here is very even, I'm not surprised by that, but of the three outcomes, Ipswich winning the game is the first of my three football tips to get us underway.
Tip 2: Under 1.5 Total Goals
I've touched on the worrying lack of goals from Middlesbrough recently, and while I do think Ipswich are in a much better place now compared to any point this season, their lack of goals on the road is also a concern.
At home, five games and 13 goals so I don't think there's a problem there.
But on the road, three goals from four games, plus remember the now infamous abandoned game against Blackburn, where they hadn't scored at the time it was called off.
I've made my case for Ipswich, but regardless of who you think will win the game, I don't see an abundance of goals in it.
Under 1.5 goals is my second tip, giving us either a 0-0 draw or 1-0 to either team, hopefully Ipswich!
Tip 3: Half Time 0-0, Full Time 1-0 Ipswich
A correct score double, at double figure odds, rounds us off with this game, and it builds on everything I've said above really.
I think Ipswich will win the game, and I also think goals will be hard to come by, based on Middlesbrough recently and what Ipswich have been like away from home so far this season.
Couple that up with the fact this is the first game back since the international break, so things may be a little tighter than normal to get going, and that leads me to think we could see a goalless first half.
The game being 0-0 at half time, and then finishing 1-0 to Ipswich at full time, is available at 11/ 1 when doubled up in a bet builder.
