Newcastle vs Benfica Predictions, Tips & Latest Odds

The Champions League is back for game week three and there's plenty of interesting games across the two days of action, with Newcastle hosting Benfica in this one.
The home side will be looking to bag a valuable three points here, as they look to progress to the next phase, and know how important home games are.
While Benfica come here on the back of two defeats, and while it's not desperate just yet, they need to get something on the board, and do it quickly.
Newcastle vs Benfica Tips
To get you set for this one, I've got my Newcastle vs Benfica tips below, as well as the latest match odds from the best betting sites so you can pinpoint the value before kick off.
Tip 1: Newcastle Win to Nil
I'm going to begin my tips for this game with a Newcastle win, and not only that, but I think they can add a clean sheet too.
They've played well in Europe so far, really impressed me against Union St.Gilloise when winning 4-0, and put up a brave fight against Barcelona, losing that one narrowly.
The pressure is on, home games are important, but they're more than capable of holding their own against most of Europe.
What I also think will play into the hands of Newcastle's clean sheet prospects here is that Benfica are not the type of team to come all out attacking, especially away from home.
Newcastle scoring early (which I'll get to in a minute) will likely force Benfica to open up, but even if that happens, I still don't think they'll bring a ton to trouble the Newcastle back line.
Stats wise, Newcastle can back up my hopes. They've kept clean sheets in two of their last three games, and an impressive six from 12 games so far this season in all competitions.
Tip 2: Time of First Goal 11-20 Minutes
I've just mentioned Newcastle scoring early potentially opening up Benfica a little, and that's exactly what I think will happen here.
Other than Newcastle scoring in minute 17 in their last Champions League game, I've no stats, just a feeling.
St James' Park is going to be rocking, the atmosphere for the Barcelona game was incredible, and the fans are going to be on it again here.
I think Newcastle can dominate the possession, in fact, I think at 0-0, Benfica will happily sit in and let them have the ball. They will create chances, the crowd will only get louder, and quite early on, I think Benfica will crack.
11-20 minutes is my guess here, but effectively, an early goal in this one, is what I'm expecting.
Tip 3: Nick Woltemade to Score a Hat Trick
My last tip comes at odds of 50/1, and of course, they don't come in too often, but as a fun, small stakes wager, I think this one has legs.
Nick Woltemade is making a real name for himself in the North East, I'll take him to bag a hat trick in this game, 50/1 with Paddy Power, as short as just 18/1 with some firms.
The big target man is a classic case of not letting looks deceive you, he's a far better striker, and finisher, than you'd expect from the typical big unit up front, and he's in a great run of form right now.
He's scored in his last three Premier League games, and four out of his last five in the league, while he also found the next when Newcastle won 4-0 against Union St.Gilloise in their last Champions League game.
The German has yet to score more than one in a game for Newcastle so far, so I'm taking a leap of faith with him, but there's definitely worse 50/1 shots out there, that is for sure.
