2024 European Championship Darts Betting Tips, Preview and Odds

After 13 European Tour events in 2024, all roads now lead to Dortmund as the best 32 players from these tournaments gather inside Westfalenhallen.
After winning two events from 13 – at the International Darts Open and Swiss Darts Trophy – and performing well across the season, Martin Schindler is a surprise top seed in front of home support in Dortmund, with the pair of Lukes (Humphries and Littler) in second and third, once again landing in the same half of the draw.
So with the scattered seeding process there are some tasty first-round ties – Rob Cross vs James Wade and Dave Chisnall vs Michael Smith, anyone?
Peter Wright is the reigning champion at the European Championship and the Scot opens up his defence against Jermaine Wattimena.
Let’s take a look at our latest darts betting tips, plus the top darts betting offers from the best betting sites.

2024 European Championship Darts – Favourites
Luke Humphries - 10/3
If you’re looking for the form player, then look no further than Luke Humphries.
“Cool Hand” Luke romped to last weekend’s Czech Darts Open thanks to a 106 average in the final, and gained revenge over Mike De Decker after the Belgian pipped him to the post at the World Grand Prix a weekend previous.
Humphries has made the final in all four previous televised majors in 2024, winning two and finishing runner-up in the other two, and it’s hard to imagine him not going deep again in Dortmund the way he is throwing.
Luke Littler - 7/2
Two first-round exits at the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix have put Luke Littler on the back foot a little in the televised majors.
Barring his success at the World Series of Darts Finals, Littler’s best work probably came in the first six months of 2024, explaining why he’s drifted away from being tournament favourites and replaced by Humphries in the outright.
Littler should win his quarter but is once again on a collision course with Humphries – a man who he has lost to in four of their last five meetings.
Michael van Gerwen - 7/1
MVG hasn’t won this title since 2017, the fourth of four in a row that saw him dominate since 2013.
Along with the Grand Slam of Darts, it’s the biggest drought of “Mighty Mike’s” career in terms of titles, and his 2024 season so far doesn’t suggest he’s going to return to his dominant best in Dortmund.
But the Dutchman is, of course, a born winner – in fact, he’s won two Players Championship and one European Tour titles since the start of September – so a deep run shouldn’t be a surprise this week even if he is made to work hard in a quarter containing Dave Chisnall, Michael Smith and Gary Anderson.
Gerwyn Price - 12/1
Apart from two wins on the World Series of Darts tour, Gerwyn Price can consider his 2024 season to be pretty unremarkable so far.
The Welshman has been dumped out early at the World Championships, UK Open, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix – not to mention finishing 7th in the Premier League.
His European Tour season has also tailed off following a positive start; five second-round exits in a row don’t exactly tee him up for a big run in Dortmund this weekend.
12/1 is a fair price for the “Iceman” to find some form this weekend, and I guess that price has been bumped slightly by being in the opposite half of the draw to the Lukes.
2024 European Championship Darts – Best Bets/Tips
Dave Chisnall to win 2nd Quarter - 6/1
“Chizzy” arrives as the fourth seed in Dortmund having scooped two European Tour titles this season in Leverkusen and Antwerp, aiming to break his long-standing duck of never claiming a televised major.
It’s not for the want of trying – the St. Helens man has finished runner-up in six and reached another 11 semi-finals, but at 44 there is life in Chisnall yet.
He’s a meaty 6/1 to win his quarter involving former world champions Gary Anderson, Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen, but his form this season gives him a gooder chance as any year before.
He has lost four quarter-finals here before – fifth times a charm, right?
Luke Humphries most tournament 180s - 4/1
If we are to assume that Luke Humphries is to make another major final, then that’s five games that the world champion has to rack up the maximums.
“Cool Hand” averaged three per game at the Czech Darts Open that he won last weekend in a shorter format than he will play in in Dortmund, and once he finds his rhythm is hard to budge from the 180 bed.
Littler is his closest rival in this market, so all might come down to their potential semi-final clash.
