2024 World Grand Prix Darts Betting Tips, Preview & Odds

It’s time for some double trouble in Leicester this weekend…
The Citywest in Leicester will play host to the World Grand Prix this week, with the unique “double in, double out” format hoping to throw a few spanners in the works of one of the most unpredictable events on the calender.
Luke Humphries is the reigning champion here after a 5-2 win over Gerwyn Price in 2023, but is only second in the betting (4/1 with bet365) to the rampant Luke Littler who is fancied at 10/3 by bet365.
Let’s take a closer look at this week’s tournament, alongside the top darts betting offers available.

2024 World Grand Prix Darts – Favourites
We highlight three players that will go close in Leicester this week.
Luke Littler - 10/3
Luke Littler enjoys a debut run at a major title, so it’s no surprise that the 17-year-old is priced up as a 10/3 FAV here in Leicester.
With eight titles already under his belt this season, no one can boast more on the PDC Tour, and with a dead-eye for doubling shown throughout 2024, the double start shouldn’t be a concern for “The Nuke”.
He opens up his campaign against a man that has lost to Littler in seven of their last eight meetings, Rob Cross, and a man that hasn’t got past the second round in seven attempts at the World Grand Prix.
As is the norm at the moment, Littler will have to get past a quarter containing Luke Humphries if he is to make it deep in Leicester.
Luke Humphries - 4/1
Humphries dropped just four sets en route to this title in 2023, flexing his muscles on the oche ahead of what would turn into a dominant period for “Cool Hand”.
He’s had a patchy summer to say the least, and will have to be back to the very top of his game if he is going to breeze past a nightmare opening draw in Stephen Bunting.
“The Bullet” is a two-time semi-finalist at the World Grand Prix and after winning this year’s Masters is a man to avoid in the early stages of any tournament.
But Humphries at his best still probably beats anyone on the tour, and 4/1 is a decent price for the world number one to go back-to-back in Leicester.
Michael van Gerwen - 11/2
Illness, injury and drops in form has seen the “Green Machine” viewed as human over the past couple of years, and it’s now four TV ranking title final defeats since the Dutchman last bagged a trophy in 2022.
He’s got a phenomenal record at the World Grand Prix lifting the trophy six times and sitting in the bottom half of the draw will give MVG that confidence that he can make it lucky number seven in 2024.
When MVG goes off the boil his doubling is usually the first sign, so a few sticky starts could well leave van Gerwen with a hill to climb, especially in the early rounds when it’s best of three sets.
MVG faces former champion Daryl Gurney in the 1st round, a man he has beaten 10 times across their last 15 meetings.

Gary Anderson to reach the final
Gary Anderson is the man in form at the moment.
His seasonal average of 99.55 is the best across the whole of the PDC Tour, and he is continuing to take big scalps alongside big averages in the floor events of the Pro Tour.
His major record of late is a bit less impressive, but with a hunger to bag one of the only major tournaments to allude him so far throughout his career, a run to the final at 4/1 is a cracking option.
Anderson is in the opposite half to both Luke Littler and Humphries, but will have to navigate a route through former world champions Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price in his quarter.
Luke Humphries win Quarter 1
Luke Humphries revelled in this format last year, and if he can get past Stephen Bunting in the opener, then it’s looking unlikely that the world champion will fail to get through what – on paper – is a pretty winnable quarter.
Alongside Humphries and Bunting, Raymond van Barneveld, Rocardo Pietreczko, Jonny Clayton, Ritchie Edhouse, Gian van Veen and Ross Smith sit at the top of the draw bracket, and above evens for Humphries to win three matches in Leicester is well worth including in the best bets section.
