2024 World Grand Prix Darts – Day 2 Tips
We’re up and running at the World Grand Prix with five former world champions in action on Tuesday

The action comes thick and fast on Tuesday inside Leicester’s Citywest.
Eight first-round ties will grace the oche, as some of the best arrowsmiths on the planet attempt to navigate the landmine that is the double in, double out format of the World Grand Prix.
Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen are the former world champions looking to add the 2024 World Grand Prix to their trophy cabinets, and in a race to two sets we’re expecting at least one upset.
Let’s take a look at Tuesday’s tips, plus the top darts betting offers from the best betting sites.

Dave Chisnall to beat Cameron Menzies 2-0
Over the course of his very consistent career, “Chizzy” has enjoyed more success at the World Grand Prix than in any other tournament.
Two runner-up spots in 2013 and 2019 as well as two semi-final finishes will give the St. Helens thrower plenty of confidence in Leicester as he attempts to land his maiden TV ranking title in what feels like 1,000+ attempts…
Two wins on the European Tour this summer in Leverkusen and Antwerp means his tail will be up, and a clean sweep of Cameron Menzies – who is making his debut at this event – is priced well at 9/4.
Chisnall’s average since the start of September is 97+ and anything close to that should see him safely through to round two.
Gary Anderson to beat Michael Smith
There are a lot of whispers around Gary Anderson this week.
The “Flying Scotsman” has quietly got himself into the position as the form player coming into Leicester, and without a World Grand Prix title on his mantlepiece will be locked in for a solid display this week.
On paper, it doesn’t start too much harder than Michael Smith in round one, but Anderson knows “Bully Boy’s” game inside out and will be aware how sticky he can get on his doubles – especially in this format.
In eleven outings at the World Grand Prix, Smith has been chucked out at the first hurdle eight times, and he’s only made it past round two once (semi-finalist in 2023).
Anderson’s last competitive action saw him perform beautifully throughout the Players Championship 24, running to the semi-finals, hitting a nine-darter in a last 64 victory against Jamie Hughes and averaging 114 to see off world champion Luke Humphries.
We’d probably want a little more than 8/13 for Anderson here, but it’s still worth backing in a straight shootout.
Michael van Gerwen vs Daryl Gurney – 170 checkout
Neither MVG or Daryl Gurney are at the peak of their powers currently, but both have the freedom of the oche in Leicester knowing that they have won this title before…
Van Gerwen is a healthy 2/5 to win this opening round game, but we can’t look away from the 12/1 price of a 170 finish from one of these two showman.
MVG leaves the “big fish” finish more than any other player, and Gurney is a pro at making big showstopping checkouts when the chips are down, so a small stake could lead to a satisfying pick-up here.
