Joe Burrow Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns
The Broncos concede just 18.7 points per game (4th in the NFL), allowing 99.8 rushing yards (5th) and 219.8 passing yards (18th). However, their defensive form has dipped recently, giving up 24.5 points per game over the past four outings. Last week, Denver’s four-game winning streak came to an end with a 34-27 road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
In three of their last four games, Denver has allowed at least 263 passing yards. In Week 13, the Broncos secured a 41-32 home win over the Cleveland Browns but surrendered an astonishing 497 yards and four touchdowns to Jameis Winston.
Running effectively against Denver remains a challenge, as the Broncos allow just 3.9 yards per carry (2nd in the NFL). Consequently, the Bengals will continue to rely heavily on their passing game, and Joe Burrow is having an exceptional season.
Burrow, widely regarded as one of the league’s top five quarterbacks, has thrown for 4,229 yards, 39 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this season. He leads the NFL in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.
Over his last seven appearances, Burrow has thrown for at least three touchdowns and 251 yards in each game. He enjoys a superb partnership with Ja’Marr Chase, who tops the league in receptions (108), receiving yards (1,510), and receiving touchdowns (16).
Last week, the Bengals defeated the Browns 24-6, extending their winning streak to three games. Burrow completed 23 of 30 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Even against the formidable Broncos defense, Burrow is more than capable of delivering another three-touchdown performance.
Chase Brown Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Only the Tennessee Titans have allowed more receiving touchdowns to opposing running backs than the Denver Broncos. This is why I’m including Chase Brown, rather than Ja’Marr Chase, in the Bengals v Broncos tips.
The Broncos have conceded 28 offensive touchdowns this season, with 19 coming through the air, six of which have been caught by running backs. Brown also poses a threat on the ground, as evidenced by Denver’s struggles in Week 16 when they allowed two rushing touchdowns to Gus Edwards.
A fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Brown is enjoying a productive season. He leads the Bengals in carries (209), rushing yards (923), and rushing touchdowns (7). Brown is also an effective receiver out of the backfield, registering 50 receptions for 336 yards and four touchdowns this year.
Brown has scored in six of his last eight appearances. Although he didn’t find the end zone against Cleveland last week, he still made a valuable contribution with 91 rushing yards and three catches for 18 yards. With the Broncos focused on containing Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Brown should have plenty of opportunities to exploit the gaps.
