Bournemouth v West Ham Match Preview
If the current top four of the Premier League is largely what was expected at the start of the season – even if the teams may be in a slightly different order, the same cannot be said for the half-dozen outfits that sit below.
Before the latest round of league fixtures gets underway, it is a chasing pack that not only sees Nottingham Forest lead the charge in fifth but it was also a pack that does not include the trio of Tottenham, Newcastle or Manchester United.
The perceived bigger clubs suffering and the South Coast mafia of Brighton and Bournemouth along with capital-based cousins Fulham profiting the most from their failure and if this continues, those profits could be enhanced by European football at the start of next season.
Especially if extra European places are picked up through the Premier League’s co-efficient ranking and with the potential to see eighth or ninth being handed a ticket to the continent, teams such as Bournemouth will consider them worthy of earning a few passport stamps next Autumn.
Then again, Andoni Iraola’s men will have to make sure they maintain their form this winter and just when you think they are hitting a rut, they then manage to stroll to a three-game Premier League winning streak.
The trio of Wolves, Tottenham and Ipswich all ticked off in the past fortnight – two of those wins coming on the road and with the sky being the limit for the Cherries, they will not want to be limited by West Ham on Monday.
The Hammers arrive at the Vitality Stadium looking to force their way into the congested pack of European hopefuls and in doing so, put a further margin of error between themselves and the relegation battle beneath them.
A battle they could have been firmly placed in had they not got the better of Wolves at the London Stadium last week and were it not for their 2-1 home win, there is every chance that Julen Lopetegui would no longer be in the Hammers’ hotseat.
Dubbed as ‘El Sackico’ the former Wolves managed to get a hugely important win over his former employers on a night that was rather poignant in mood after Michail Antonio’s car accident just a couple of days previously.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with Bournemouth having kept just one clean sheet from their past six league games, I think both they and West Ham get on the scoresheet. However, I am going to combine this with a home win at odds of 19/10 with Betway.
In addition to this, Lewis Cook is currently walking a disciplinary tightrope after collecting four yellow cards for Bournemouth this season and I am backing him to not only collect a fifth (or even worse, a red) but also the first card of the game at a very tempting price of 20/1 with bet365.
