Chicago Bears -2.5
We were anticipating a duel between two rookie quarterbacks, but that’s unlikely now. Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury last week and hasn’t trained all week, so the Commanders are preparing Marcus Mariota to lead their offence in Week 8.
Daniels has been instrumental in the Commanders’ strong start to the season. After he left the Week 7 game against the Panthers early, Mariota stepped in and posted 205 yards with a couple of touchdowns. However, Carolina’s defence is arguably the weakest in the NFL, while the Bears are one of the league’s strongest defensive teams.
Adding to the Commanders' challenges, starting tackle Brandon Coleman is in the concussion protocol, which could allow Chicago’s formidable defensive line to dominate at the line of scrimmage.
The Bears are coming off a bye and riding a three-game winning streak, with an average margin of victory of 17 points. Rookie QB Caleb Williams has excelled during this stretch, throwing for 687 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one interception.
