Since taking charge of Coventry in 2017, Mark Robins has proven himself to be one of the most efficient problem-solvers in the EFL.
It feels as if almost every season has been influenced by an in-season tactical tweak that’s nudged things in his side’s favour, with the 54-year-old bringing a practical mind to the hot seat.
So, with the Sky Blues seemingly having recovered from a poor start with back-to-back wins that have hauled them up to 13th, it may be fair to presume that the wheels of another turnaround are in motion.
With forwards Haji Wright and Ellis Simms starting to rekindle their understanding, Jack Rudoni finding something of a home for himself at left wing-back, Ben Sheaf finding fitness after an injury-hit start, and Josh Eccles in sumptuous form, it’s hard to back against Coventry right now.
Fellow Midlanders Derby have enjoyed a positive start to their first season back at this level, after promotion, with Paul Warne’s side taking 15 points from their first 13 games.
The Rams have difficulty on the road, however, having taken two points from seven away from Pride Park – although away may also be where their trickier fixtures have lied. This could be one of them…
