Doncaster v Notts County Match Preview
Doncaster and Notts County are arguably the two best teams in League Two based on performance, much though Port Vale deserve immense credit for topping the table.
With so little to choose between the two sides, it seems surprising that Doncaster are odds-on with every bookmaker to accrue all three points, while Notts County are available to back at evens in places to merely avoid defeat.
There is nothing in the numbers to suggest that Donny deserve to be priced quite so favourably and, were this game to be played at Meadow Lane, rather than the Eco-Power Stadium, it seems probable that the odds would be flipped with Notts the favourites.
Of course, home advantage comes into the reckoning somewhere, but it shouldn’t necessarily be the dominant factor – especially considering Rovers have dropped plenty of points at home this season, like their 1-0 defeat to bottom-half dwellers Bromley and the 3-0 loss to Chesterfield.
Far better organised this season, thanks to better recruitment at the back, Notts County have only been defeated in two of their 14 league games this season – and if they can add to their tally again in South Yorkshire, then we’ll be in profit.
