Eagles Win Big as NFL Votes to Keep the Tush Push Legal

The biggest talking point of the off-season finally concluded at the owners meeting in Minnesota.
The infamous โTush Pushโ move, expertly used by the Philadelphia Eagles, was being voted on - a decision that sparked debate on forums and online betting sites, with fans speculating on whether it would survive.
The move that helped the Eagles win the Superbowl in February, has been debated as to whether it should be made illegal or not.
Free Bets NFL expert Adam Martin looks closer at this week's controversial vote.
The Green Bay Packers bought the proposal to be voted on again and once again it feel short of the two thirds majority that was needed. This time the vote finished with a 22-10 outcome and falling two short from banning the Eagles favourite move.
The vote was expected to go through and the move banned as NFL insiders went to social media to declare their predictions. In an X post, Dianna Russini, reporter for The Athletic wrote: 'Hours away from the owners' vote surrounding the future of the tush push, I'm told both the league's competition and players' health and safety committees have voted to ban the play. 'Despite the Eagles' best efforts, the tush push is likely on its way out, sources say.'
However, after a spirited defence of the move by Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and ex-player, Jason Kelce, the owners went to vote. Clearly, they did enough to convince teams to keep the move.
The QB push play has come under fire as the Eagles used it so efficiently on their way to the Superbowl this year. Detractors of the play consider it to be a scrum like move and consider it a non-football move. Player safety was another reason that was used to argue for the ban, despite no supporting data to agree with that analysis.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he did not take a stance on the proposal. โI usually take a neutral position on wanting to make sure that the process goes well, but also that there's a full discussion."
The fact that the vote was only two short from banning the play makes people think that this could be revisited in the future. Also, there were some surprises when you look at who voted to ban it. Both the Colts and Cardinals were amongst the teams wanting to see the move banned but both teams have ex- Eagles coaches. However, it is worth noting that neither coach was involved in the voting process.
Amongst those not wanting to see the ban were the Lions and Patriots. Both Dan Campbell, head coach of the Lions, and Mike Vrabel, head coach of the Patriots was vocal about the potential ban. Both coaches believe that the onus should be on teams to stop the play, not legislate it out of the game.
Now it will all be about the Eagles opponents being able to stop the โTush Pushโ from being so effective again. Can anyone stop it? Will the Eagles win another Superbowl by consistently using it? The one thing we know for sure is that the Eagles and QB Jalen Hurts have had a massive win with the play still being allowed at least for one more season.
