France v Wales Match Preview
It's that time of year again as we prepare for another Six Nations campaign, and we kick off with what's now the traditional Friday night starter before the main course over the coming weeks.
It looks like it should be a pretty tough opener for last year's wooden spoon winners, Wales, with a trip to pre-tournament favourites France to kick things off.
Describing them as pre-tournament favourites doesn't quite tell the whole story, with France and Ireland neck and neck with the bookies leading up to the first game which should make it a pretty open tournament this year.
When you look at the team France have named though, it's hard not to think they really are the team to beat with the half-back pairing of Romaine Ntamack and Antoine Dupont back together for the first time in over a year.
There are absentees elsewhere in the backline with Gael Fickou and Damien Penaud out injured, but the return of Dupont to Six Nations duty is a huge boost to the tournament after he missed last year as he focused on playing sevens before the Olympics.
It will be great to watch the scrum-half - arguably one of the best players the game has seen - in full flight, but Wales might be the side to take the brunt of it.
Les Blues saw off the All Blacks in the autumn internationals so I think we can expect a more complete showing than this time last year when they finished second but didn't push Ireland as close as they'd have wanted to.
Warren Gatland has tried to put the pressure back on the hosts ahead of this game, but really that's just about the only play he has given how poor results have been of late for Wales and clearly he knows he's in for another tough evening by trying to deflect attention away from his players.
They might have given France a run for their money last year but they're in the middle of a run of 12 consecutive losses, and I see no reason for that to change.
Wales have conceded 45, 52, 24, 36, 25, 41, 24, 45, 31, 16 and 27 points since the start of the last Six Nations, so over 59.5 points to be scored in the whole game at Evens with BetVictor looks like a really good place to start with our tips.
I'm really excited to watch Louis Bielle-Biarrey this year given his try-scoring start to his France career.
He only scored once in the Six Nations last year but could be a really good bet to finish as the leading try-scorer in this year's competition, with this game an ideal opportunity for him to get off to a flying start.
I think he could touch down twice as France throw the ball around in a big win, so for that to happen and over 8.5 tries to be scored in the game, you can get 13/2 with BoyleSports and I think that represents a decent outside bet.
