India v England Preview
England head to magnificent Mumbai aiming to win what could well be a run-fest, and if they do then it will add just a bit of respectability to the series scoreline.
You look at the scores in last year’s Indian Premier League and 200 totals were regular. There was even a 234-5 there last April. Just over five years ago, yes, but India have also posted 240-3 there in a T20 International against the West Indies.
England’s inability to play spin is concerning, and you’d have to back India to out muscle them in this series finale, which precedes three 50-over matches from Thursday onwards.
To start with, I’ve settled on a 13/10 bet builder treble with bet365, which is for India to win and spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy to take at least one wicket apiece. I’d much rather that than the outright India win at 1/2.
The two India twirlers in question have taken 16 wickets in the series between them. Chakravarthy has 12 of those.
Fireworks expected to herald end to T20 leg of tour
I’m also going to take a William Hill #YourOdds match treble, which is 9/4 on India to win, for them to hit the most sixes and for there to be 18 plus total sixes hit.
Even though England haven’t been batting well, it would be some effort to capitulate on the Wankhede road of a pitch if it’s anything like it has been in recent times.
One man who can aide their cause is captain Jos Buttler, who has had a pretty decent series thanks to scores of 68, 45 and 24 in four innings. He made two last time out in Pune.
Betano are offering 9/4 on the England skipper to score a fifty in Mumbai, which I can see him doing. He has a decent career record at this venue, too. He has scored one hundred and three fifties in 27 T20 innings.
I also have a feeling for success for Tilak Varma, India’s number three, who is a Mumbai Indian in the IPL, so is back on home soil. Fingers crossed, that provides a bit of inspiration because I’m going to side with the left-hander at 4/1 with PricedUp to top score for India in this fixture.
He he a blistering 72 not out in game two and has made a couple of teens in addition.
Varma has reached 50 in five of his 24 T20I appearances and has converted two of those into centuries.
And finally, such is the weight of runs posted at this venue, I think there’s got to be a very good chance of a century scored in the match. Bet365 will give you 9/2 for that to be achieved.
