Leeds v Blackburn Match Preview
I didn't have much luck with my tips for Leeds games over the past week or so, but that's because they've been on the road where they haven't been quite as strong this season.
It was a legitimate concern for Leeds fans and Daniel Farke with turgid performances against the likes of Millwall, Blackburn and Preston evidence of their struggles away from home, but that was put right with successive wins to nil over Stoke and Derby in the past week.
I don't think the return of Ethan Ampadu is a coincidence either, with the club captain adding a bit of steel whether in midfield or defence and if they can keep building on that, then the title is theirs for the taking.
It is a sign of Leeds' riches at this level that they can afford to rest the likes of Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell or Pascal Struijk - three players who have been up there with the best in the division so far this season in their respective positions - and maintain their form.
The two wins they claimed were solid if unspectacular, but they tend to save their best for Elland Road and I think they'll be revved up on New Year's Day against Blackburn and put in a performance worthy of their status as league favourites.
That's not to say Blackburn will make it easy for them. It was a real surprise that they lost at home to Hull given the run they have been on, but in John Eustace they have a manager who boasts. good recent record against Farke and he will set up his side to make them difficult to beat, so it could be a frustrating afternoon at times for Leeds fans.
Even despite that, I'm still going to back another Leeds win to nil on Wednesday. They average about 2.5 goals for at home, and 0.5 goals against, so for a fourth win to nil on the bounce, you can back at 11/10 with BetVictor.
Secondly I would expect Joel Piroe to be back in the side on Wednesday, having been rested in the win over Derby.
Mateo Joseph didn't take his chance but Piroe has been much improved of late and netted twice against Stoke, confirming him as the first-choice striker.
He is `9/2 with Betfred to continue that run of form and open the scoring`.
