Leeds v Plymouth Match Preview
Leeds fans are licking their lips at the prospect of Wayne Rooney visiting Elland Road on Saturday, having signalled the end of his time at Birmingham with a 3-0 win in January.
It would be a surprise if Plymouth dispense with the services of the former Manchester United striker at this stage of the season - they sit 21st in the table as of Friday - but the Leeds faithful will see it as a chance to get another one over on a former player of their biggest rivals.
Rooney though will be encouraged by the character shown by his players last week when they came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Preston and while that may not be something to shout too loudly about, it does show that the players are willing to fight for him and that he can change a game from the sidelines.
He will have his work cut out this weekend however, even against a Leeds side who looked pretty blunt and unadventurous in a drab 0-0 draw at Bristol City last weekend but will be full of beans on home turf.
In reality, it should be a pretty comfortable home win for the Peacocks but it has been quite hard to predict at times this season, what exactly we're going to get from them.
With 12 goals scored and five conceded in six home matches so far, the form book would suggest a routine 2-1 win but that may be a bit closer than the quality of the two squads would suggest.
I think there should be a pretty big gap between the starting XIs - although Plymouth do have some quality players as Clinton Morrison pointed out this week - and as we have seen with Leeds, they like to get ahead and then manage a lead, so I fancy a 2-0 or 3-1 win.
Yes there are injuries in the Leeds ranks, but this should be a game in which they can get some confidence back into players such as Manor Solomon and Mateo Joseph, so I do fancy a Leeds -1 handicap. The issue with Leeds this season is finding decent value and there is none in going for a -1.
So let's go for an over/under prediction, and having managed 2-0 wins over Hull, Cardiff and Sheffield United, that looks like a pretty decent place to start so for Leeds to win and under 3.5 match goals, you can get 13/10 with BoyleSports.
Sticking with a similar theme, I'm going to combine two markets for my second prediction with Leeds to win with a -1 handicap. I'm going to add in a Joseph goal too to boost it to 13/2 with William Hill.
The striker has been rotated out of the side lately but still looks very dangerous off the bench. I think Leeds need to get him firing over the coming months if they are going to put a run of form together, and this should be the ideal game to stick him back in the XI and give him a little confidence boost.
