Leeds v Sheffield United Prediction: Will Jackson's Verdict
Leeds v Sheffield United Match Preview
All eyes will be on Ilian Meslier on Friday night as the Championship returns with a humdinger of a tie at Elland Road under lights.
The Leeds goalkeeper was guilty of one of the biggest howlers you are likely to see in the draw at Sunderland prior to the international break, and has had two weeks to stew on that error.
That error distracts from what was otherwise a fine away performance from Leeds against a Sunderland side who are top of the league and hadn't previously conceded a goal at home, but should give the Whites plenty of optimism moving forward.
In particular, the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani look too good for this level and are combining with Joel Piroe in a way that means the returning Dan James and Manor Solomon could find it hard to get back in the side, a real luxury for Daniel Farke.
The defensive injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev have forced Farke to play a more attack-minded duo of Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell in the centre of the park, and that should have an effect in the betting markets with a more adventurous game expected as a result.
It does mean they are more open at the back, unusually for a Farke side, but if they can pick up where they left off then I would expect them to score some goals on Friday and provide an entertaining game.
Sheffield United have gone under the radar somewhat despite sitting second in the Championship so far, and you can be sure Chris Wilder will have his players revved up for this one.
I'm predicting a Leeds win with BTTS as my first tip for this game. If I were to stick my neck out I'd go for a 2-1 home win, but sticking with Leeds and BTTS you can find at 3/1 with bet365 which I think is great value.
I'm sticking my neck out a bit with my second prediction and going for a double goalscorer.
Kieffer Moore is someone I expect to cause the Leeds backline all sorts of problems on Friday, and Gnonto is Leeds' most influential player and a real goal threat so if we back both of them to score we can get 15/1 with Unibet.
