With the amount of football being played these days you can be forgiven for forgetting the outcome of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg clash between Tottenham and Liverpool and because of the calendar being so packed, there are 29 days between the two legs of the tie.

A pair of results that suggest this fixture is no longer the do or die affair for the affable Australian that was framed to be even a fortnight ago and bar an absolute thrashing at Anfield, the former Celtic boss is unlikely to become the former Tottenham boss before the weekend.
With that said, the potential for an absolute thrashing still lurks in the air. Not only because this Liverpool side has been the gold standard on multiple fronts this season but also because they have already put six goals past Thursday’s visitors already.
Their 6-3 league win in N17 is already registered as something bordering on a cricket score and with the dust now settled, the fact that Liverpool could genuinely have scored 10 that afternoon should not be understated.
Arne Slot’s men at their brilliant best when league points where on offer, now they need to do the same when it comes to League Cup progress. This tie is firmly in the balance and both sides will need a rather firm defence if they are to book their place in this season’s final.
