Lossiemouth Storms Home to Win Mares' Hurdle

Sunday's biggest talking point was Lossiemouth being removed from the Champion Hurdle, and sent to the Mares' Hurdle instead.
Well let's get one thing clear, she's a top quality animal, has won the Mares' Hurdle with ease, and would no doubt have served up a good battle in the Champion Hurdle.
It's the first major talking point on the course, while off the course we've got plenty to talk about with Cheltenham free bets and offers grabbing the headlines.
Lossiemouth Bags Easier Mares' Hurdle Crown
From the moment that the news broke on Sunday, Lossiemouth was made the odds on favourite with betting sites to win the Mares' Hurdle, and she showed us all why.
It was all too comfortable from Paul Townend on board, who tracked Jade De Grugy into the race and then drove past her with ease as they hit the last fence.
Let's not forget out good Jade De Grugy is, an above average mare, so this was a very strong performance from Lossiemouth.
2026 Mares' Hurdle Odds Lossiemouth
After cruising to victory in the 2025 renewal, bookmakers have been quick to add in Lossiemouth to the 2025 Mares' Hurdle betting, where she has been installed as a 2/1 shot.
With not too much coming out from the novice races, there's a good chance that we'll see a similar field heading back to Cheltenham a year from now.
Of course, you're taking a chance with Lossiemouth running, but if she does, surely that 2/1 will look good.
Just a six year old, she'll be right in her prime next season, and if she goes for the Mares' Hurdle, will need to take a massive dip between now and then to not be the best horse in the race.
2026 Champion Hurdle Odds Lossiemouth
But rather than returning for the same race, could she move up to the Champion Hurdle, the race we all wanted her in this season?
Interestingly, when crossing the finishing line, so before the 2025 Champion Hurdle, she was priced up at 5/1 with Unibet to win the 2026 Champion Hurdle.
