KL Rahul & Jos Buttler to score 20+ runs each
We’re starting off with what should be a bit of a banker, with two extremely experienced, world class players at the top of the order for their respective sides.
Buttler had not been in the best of form for the Royals but after two unbeaten centuries, followed by a well-made 35, he is now looking primed for a god run of form and he will definitely fancy making his way to 20 and then making it count.
Rahul is a supremely consistent batter, especially in the IPL. He may not score as quickly as Buttler, but his run of scores so far this season read 58, 15, 20, 33, 39, 39, 82 and 16. He very rarely fails so backing him to reach 20 so along with Buttler, should represent good value.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler to score 75+ runs combined
Jaiswal’s return to form in the Royals’ last game against Mumbai Indians will have sent shudders through the spines of most IPL bowling attacks.
The willowy left-hander had had a quiet time of it since starring in the Test series against England, with his all-out attack method causing him some issues against the moving ball. He opted for a slightly more circumspect approach against MI before unleashing his full game once he was settled, and the results are there to be seen.
If Buttler and Jaiswal can fire together, there is no better opening partnership in T20 cricket around the world and it looks as though we could just be entering that kind of period. It certainly looks like one of them will get you if the other doesn’t, and both have an appetite to go very big.
Jaiswal to score 30+, Samson to score 20+, Chahal to take 1+ wicket
We’re going all-in on the Royals with this one, and with good reason considering they have so many in-form players.
We think that now Jaiswal has found his tempo he will go from strength to strength, particularly given his appetite for making big scores. And Sanju Samson has been coasting in the background of Buttler and Jaiswal, but his form and contributions should not be forgotten.
He has 314 runs at 62.80 so far this season, second only to Riyan Parag for the Royals and is striking at over 150. If it weren’t for Rishabh Pant, Samson would surely be a regular for India in all formats.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the joint-leading wicket-taker in the IPL so far, level with Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah. Simply put, if he doesn’t take a wicket we will be shocked.
