Newcastle v West Ham Predictions and Free Bet Tips
Newcastle v West Ham Match Preview
Newcastle will look to continue their mini resurgence when they welcome West Ham to St James’ Park in the Premier League on Monday evening.
The Magpies picked up a couple of excellent results before the international break — seeing off Arsenal before thrashing Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the City Ground.
West Ham have been out of sorts this term, and they have done little to alleviate the mounting pressure on Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers are 14th in the table, just five points above the relegation zone, and they need to string together some wins to avoid being sucked into a dogfight.
West Ham are waiting to see if Niclas Fullkrug will be fit to play some part as he has been recovering from a tendon injury, while Newcastle will need to reshuffle their defence thanks to suspensions and injuries.
This should be a great game to warm the hearts of what is like to be a bitter evening in the North East.
I will be tuning in from the comfort of my home. I have dissected the betting markets and provided a couple of Newcastle v West Ham predictions for you to mull over.
Magpies to prove strong frontrunners
While they could drop a few spots in the table before they kick off, Newcastle will feel like they should be higher than eighth which is where they find themselves at the time of writing.
Eddie Howe has extracted the best from his players, and such is the tight nature of the table, you wouldn’t rule them out of qualifying for the Champions League come May.
Moreover, Newcastle have proved to be strong frontrunners, winning the past 10 matches in which they have led. This is their longest run in a row since February to August 2006 where they managed 11 games.
Also, Newcastle have used fewer players (19) than any other side in the league this season which shows Howe is generally happy with his starting XI, and he won’t want to rotate things too much for this game.
Newcastle won the corresponding fixture 4-3 last term, and they have scored at least two goals in each of their past three meetings.
Goalless draws are almost unheard of in this fixture, and you have to go back to 2013 when that last happened, so expect goals.
For my first pick, I’m going with Newcastle to record a win & BTTS which is available at a tidy 19/10 with William Hill.
Alexander Isak to punish West Ham
Defensively, West Ham have been dire at times this term, and that is illustrated by the fact they have leaked 19 times.
They will also most likely be sick of the sight of Alexander Isak, who has scored five times in each of his three games against them.
Isak may have started the season slowly, but he’s been in form of late, powering home four goals in his past four appearances in all competitions.
I can see Isak wreaking havoc and bolster his four-goal return in the league.
To wrap up my predictions, I’m going with Isak to rattle home a hat-trick and bet365 is carrying odds of 20/1 which seems tempting.
