Nottingham Forest v Brighton Match Preview
Nottingham Forest will be looking to return to winning ways when they entertain Brighton at the City Ground on Saturday in the Premier League lunchtime kick-off.
Despite a stunning season so far, Forest were abysmal last weekend as they were torn to shreds by Bournemouth in a 5-0 defeat.
Nuno Santo’s men have barely put a foot wrong otherwise this term, and to still be in the top four conversation come February is remarkable.
Brighton, similarly, are coming off the back of a loss, but that was a 1-0 reverse at home to Everton which will have disappointed all those connected to the club.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who scored in Forest’s 3-2 win over Southampton, was taken off with a groin problem in the first half, and he’s being assessed in the run-up for this weekend’s game.
But how will this one pan out? I’ve scurried over to the betting markets to drop in some odds for my Nottingham Forest v Brighton predictions.
Forest to drop more points
Given what we have seen from Forest this term, the hammering at the hands of Bournemouth was a bit of a shock.
However, the Premier League high flyers, who are currently third in the table, just weren’t at the races even though they attempted two more shots (18) than the Cherries during the 90 minutes.
More pertubringly, they conceded more goals against Bournemouth than they had done in their previous seven league games combined (four).
Brighton, meanwhile, had been on a six-game unbeaten run before things came apart against Everton.
Nevertheless, they won the corresponding fixture against Forest 3-2 last term, but are aiming to record consecutive away victories against the same team, something they haven’t achieved before.
Forest are winless in their previous three encounters against the Seagulls (D1, L2), and while the defeat to Bournemouth was out of character, I don’t think Brighton will leave the Midlands empty-handed.
For the first of my Nottingham Forest Brighton predictions, I’m siding with a draw, and a decent price of 12/5 is available at Betano.
Brighton to pay penalty price
In the previous encounter between these two sides which ended in a 2-2 draw, Forest’s leading marksman Chris Wood, unsurprisingly, found the net.
With 14 goals and counting to his name, Wood has earned the plaudits and he carries a significant threat.
Against the Seagulls at the AmEx, Wood converted a penalty, and Brighton have conceded five spot-kicks this term, with only Chelsea and Wolves (both six) giving away more.
I have a feeling that there could be a penalty awarded during the game, so to wrap things up, I’m going with Forest to score from the spot. A 7/1 price is trading at bet365 for that outcome.
