Kevin Doets to beat Krzysztof Ratajski
Kevin Doets made headlines earlier on in the tournament dumping out former world champion Michael Smith 3-2 and the Dutchman will be hoping to use that as a springboard to a good run in north London.
“Hawkeye” averaged 97 against the 2023 champion and after beating Noa-Lynn van Leuven in the opening round is well and truly finding his feet on the Ally Pally oche.
Ratajski is experienced here and a former quarter-finalist from 2021, but without anything to shout about over the last couple of seasons finds himself close to falling out of the world’s top 32.
The bookies can’t really split these two, so backing Doets at 5/4 with Paddy Power looks good, as the youngster continues to impress in his second year here.
Dimitri van den Bergh to hit 1+ 180s in each Set vs Callan Rydz
Dimitri van den Bergh should always be considered an outside bet for major tournaments.
The Belgian has blown a little hot and cold in 2024, but the hot saw him claim a second major TV title at the UK Open, and he’s also run far at the World Grand Prix and Matchplay.
He reached the semi-finals here in 2023 and ranked 11th in the world the “Dreammaker” will be expecting to make the last 16 once again inside the Palace.
Callan Rydz is another youngster looking to push into the world’s top 32 and with two 3-0 wins so far will come into Sunday’s clash pretty fearless.
Van den Bergh on song is a joy to watch and we think he’ll revel in the occasion and bank a 180 each set against the “Riot”.
