Josh Jacobs Over 72.5 Rushing Yards
The Seahawks’ run defense has shown vulnerabilities, allowing 126.5 rushing yards per game (21st in the NFL) and 4.7 yards per carry (joint 24th). The Packers are likely to exploit this weakness by leaning on Josh Jacobs, so we’ll begin our Seahawks v Packers tips with Green Bay’s lead running back.
Jacobs has excelled in his first season with the Packers. Over 13 games, the former first-round pick has accumulated 239 carries for 1,053 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has surpassed 75 rushing yards in five of his last seven outings.
Last week, the Packers fell to the Detroit Lions in a narrow 34-31 road loss. Despite facing one of the NFL’s strongest run defenses, Jacobs managed 18 carries for 66 yards and three touchdowns. Week 15, however, presents a much more favourable opportunity for Jacobs.
In their 30-18 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14, the Seahawks allowed 121 rushing yards on 23 carries. Jacobs is poised to see 20 or more carries when the Packers take on Seattle.
Geno Smith Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
Seattle’s running game may face significant challenges in this contest. Firstly, Kenneth Walker III, the Seahawks’ starting running back, remains questionable after sitting out last week’s game against the Cardinals due to a calf injury. Secondly, the Packers’ run defense has been solid, allowing only 106.9 rushing yards per game (9th in the NFL) and 4.1 yards per carry (joint 6th).
This means Seattle will likely need to rely on their passing attack, and Geno Smith has a strong receiving unit at his disposal. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, D.K. Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett have collectively tallied 2,234 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
Geno Smith has thrown for 3,474 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions so far. Although he hasn’t managed two touchdown passes in his last four outings, this matchup against Green Bay offers a prime opportunity for Smith to deliver.
The Packers have conceded 30 offensive touchdowns this season, 19 of which have been passing scores. Over the past two weeks, Green Bay has allowed five passing touchdowns, and their red-zone defense ranks 23rd in the NFL (61.4%).
