Supporters Are Agreeing On The Same Point About Lingard And Sterling
March 28, 2018
Following another impressive display from both Jesse Lingard and Raheem Sterling against Italy, the England duo have got fans talking.
The attacking pair have enjoyed superb seasons for their respective Manchester clubs in the Premier League, and they have transferred that on to international level too.
After a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Italy, thanks to a decision to come from VAR late in proceedings.
Jamie Vardy opened the scoring before Lorenzo Insigne converted his spot-kick, following James Tarkowski conceding it, but supporters were full of praise for Lingard and Sterling.
Despite their club allegiances across different sides of Manchester, the duo have forged a dangerous attacking partnership for their nation in front of goal.
Twitter definitely loved their link-up play:
Excellent night for Lingard and Sterling. England have moved forward against Holland and Italy. Still some way behind Spain, Germany, Brazil at tournament level, I feel.— Oliver Holt (@OllieHolt22) March 27, 2018
England don’t need Dele Alli. Lingard and Sterling are working really well together in that number 10 position.— #TeamLH44 (@Nadal_LH_Fan) March 27, 2018
Most England players are maligned but two of the more maligned in Sterling and Lingard appear to be developing a good understanding. #ENGITA— Mark Chapman (@markchapman) March 27, 2018
Lingard x Sterling link-up is what I live for. None of this Ferdinand-Lampard ‘don’t talk to each other’ mentality.— Jordan Clarke (@FourFourJordan) March 27, 2018
Lingard and Sterling have the rest of the domestic campaign to continue their fine form before donning their national colours against Nigeria again in June.
They will then likely be headed for Russia, as the pair attempt to shine at the 2018 World Cup and maintain their high standards from the season so far.
