Tour Championship 2-Ball Betting Tips - Day One

- Adam Scott to beat Shane Lowry
- Rory McIlroy to beat Ludvig Aberg
- Scottie Scheffler to beat Xander Schauffele
The FedEx Cup playoffs will be wrapped up this week at the Tour Championship.
East Lake will provide the perfect backdrop for what will be a thrilling denouement to the PGA Tour.
The wheat has been sorted from the chaff, and now, there will be just 30 players lined up in the field for this event.
Remember, there are no cuts, but there is a stroke handicap awarded depending on a player’s position in the FedEx Cup standings.
Scottie Scheffler, who is widely fancied, will start on -10, and there will be plenty out there who will be keen to reel him in.
As is customary, I have sifted through the pairings and delivered a few Tour Championship 2-ball betting tips for you to input on your acca, plus our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
Tour Championship 2-Ball Betting Tips - Day One
Check out my three selections for the opening round in Atlanta on Thursday, which are ideal for a 4/1 golf acca.
Adam Scott to beat Shane Lowry
By all accounts, Shane Lowry has been a bit quiet of late. Although the Irishman rallied hard to finish T13 at the BMW Championship, he’s not been firing on all cylinders.
In stark contrast, Adam Scott, a 14-time winner on the PGA Tour, has been churning out the results, and he finished T2 last week.
The Australian has missed just two cuts this season, and he’s ranked 16th for SG:Total which bodes well.
East Lake has undergone a restoration in recent years, and that includes turning the 14th into a par 5.
To kick off my Tour Championship 2-ball betting tips, I think Scott will put Lowry in the shade and prevail in the opening round.
Rory McIlroy to beat Ludvig Aberg
Having had time to mull over his US Open heartache, Rory McIlroy perhaps may be happy that the season is drawing to a conclusion.
That said, the Ulsterman may feel like he has unfinished business. The only three-time winner in the field at East Lake, the Ulsterman will rekindle fond memories.
And just like in 2022, he will start the tournament six shots off the pace, and he will be looking to emulate that showing.
Ludvig Aberg will be no pushover, and he finished just one shot adrift of BMW Championship winner Keegan Bradley, so he will be looking to go one step further this week.
However, having tipped McIlroy in my other Tour Championship betting piece to win, it would be amiss to overlook him here, so I think McIlroy will come out on top in the opening round.
Scottie Scheffler to beat Xander Schauffele
Two of the undoubted stars of 2024, this pan-American pairing could light things up in the opening round.
Scheffler, as mentioned, will start at East Lake on -10 with Schauffele on -8 and this could be a birdie fest.
Unwavering and unflinching, Scheffler wasn’t in the mix last week, while Schauffele had to settle for T5.
What we know about Scheffler is that he can dig deep. While it might be a close-run thing, Scheffler could take the honours on Thursday.
