Tip 1: Aston Villa Win to Nil

A comeback win over Tottenham on Sunday made it five successive wins in a row for Villa, and they're showing no signs of slowing down, or regressing, as some expected from them this season.

They might have only won three times in the Premier League from eight, but it was their last three games, and you've got to go back to the end of August to find their last defeat in regular time.

I like how they play, and while I often find them a little more defensive minded in Europe, they've got genuine quality going forward that can hurt anyone at this level.

Both wins so far in this competition have come with a clean sheet, a nod to them being a little more cautious, and that's especially the case when away from home.

I fancy them to win this, they're one of the better teams in this competition, and I think that defensive nature they have in Europe points towards a clean sheet, and not too many goals in this game.

Tip 2: Under 2.5 Total Goals

I've spoken about Aston Villa's defensive mindset in Europe, and that also leans into this prediction, where I am going with under 2.5 total goals in the game.

Villa have won 2-0 and 1-0 so far in this competition, Go Ahead Eagles have won 2-1 and lost 1-0, so three out of those four results would be good enough for this bet to come in.

In the Premier League, Villa are averaging two goals per game, with 16 total goals (eight for, eight against) in the eight games so far.

The Dutch league is known for goals, so things are higher for Go Ahead Eagles, with 31 total goals in their nine league games, but that's still low compared to some in that league, who are seeing closer to four goals per game, some more than that.

Villa won't go over the top with attacking, especially early, and I don't think Go Ahead Eagles will either, they'd be happy with a point here.

This all points me towards a low number of goals in this one.

Tip 3: Aston Villa to Win, Under 2.5 Goals, Emiliano Buendia to Score

My bets for Aston Villa to win, and under 2.5 goals in the game, can be found above with reasoning.

I'll add a goal for Emiliano Buendia to the mix, and create a nice looking bet builder, coming in with odds just over 17/1.

Buendia has scored three goals in his last four games, including the winner at the weekend against Tottenham.

Crucially, despite this excellent run, he's not been starting games, starting just one of those four, which was the Europa League game. He's scored those three goals in 168 total minutes on the pitch, less than two games worth of time.

I think he starts here, rewarded for his strong performances from the bench, and I'm hoping the additional time on the pitch allows him to bag another goal.
