Before my tips below, here's a look at what betting sites think of this game, with Manchester United listed as the favourites.
Tip 1: Brighton to Beat Manchester United - 23/10
If you are of a United persuasion, the result against Liverpool was huge in the context of their season, and Ruben Amorim will be hoping it represents a turning point for his side.
This was United’s first victory at Anfield in nearly a decade, and for the first time under Amorim, they won back-to-back Premier League matches. Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Bruno Fernandes were all lively and dynamic going forward, and the performance delighted the travelling Red Devils faithful.
Amorim hailed it as his finest win in charge of United, and they added to the woes of Liverpool, who are in the midst of a crisis, having lost four games in a row in all competitions.
However, Brighton are no pushovers, and although they are a point and a place behind United in 10th spot, they have been hard to break down. The 2-1 win at home to Newcastle was encouraging, and more significantly, they have only lost one of their past five league clashes with United.
At Old Trafford, they have clinched two wins on their previous two visits, and by the same scoreline (1-3). I can’t see United stringing together three wins in succession, and I think the Seagulls could stunt their recent progress.
Tip 2: Brighton Over 1.5 Goals - 11/8
Under Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton have had few issues in front of goal, netting 12 times in the top flight.
They have also proved to be the comeback kings, gaining 30 points since the start of last season when trailing, which is more than any other side.
Anyway, only once in their past five matches have Brighton failed to fulfil the Over 1.5 goals line. While United have a respectable xG (expected goals) ratio this term (15.39), they have been made to look ordinary against Brighton in recent seasons.
I don’t think I’ve been too generous in backing Brighton to net Over 1.5 goals across the 90 minutes.
Tip 3: Danny Welbeck to Score a Header - 17/2
Danny Welbeck will return to face his former employers once again, and the striker turns 35 next month.
Intriguingly, Welbeck has scored more Premier League goals per game in his thirties than his twenties, and he’s almost halfway (4) to emulating his return for the Seagulls last term (10).
Welbeck has netted twice in his past four league outings against United, and to spice things up I’ve gone with a special, which is Welbeck to score with a header which doesn’t seem too outrageous.
