2024 Champion of Champions Snooker Tips, Preview & Odds
The WST title winners collide in Bolton as we determine who the best of the best is

One of snooker’s more unique tournaments heads to the Toughsheet Community Stadium this week as the Champion of Champions is crowned in Bolton.
The format is meant to combine sixteen champions from the season into a 16-player draw – if there are less than sixteen individual winners from the previous season the event is topped up using the current world rankings.
The draw bracket is essentially bunched into four groups which are played over consecutive days, and with the field stacked with winners from the 2023-24 season, expect plenty of high-level snooker to be contested over an unmissable week.
Mark Allen is the defending Champion of Champions and arrives in Bolton as the top seed once again for the 2024 event.
The Northern Irishman has two titles to his name, but it’s the “Rocket” Ronnie O’Sullivan who has typically dominated this event, winning four and finishing runner-up in another two.
The outsiders of the tournament will be considered as the World Seniors champion Igor Figueiredo and the Women’s World Snooker Championship winner Bai Yulu who arrives in Bolton as a 2000/1 outsider with bet365 to win the whole thing.
Judd Trump is the tournament favourite at 7/2 with bet365, replacing O’Sullivan at the top of the betting after the seven-time world champion’s dip in form.

2024 Champion of Champions Snooker – Group 1
The first group is headlined by the reigning Champion of Champions, Mark Allen, who is 4/6 with bet365 to win Group 1 at the expense of Gary Wilson (3/1), Jak Jones (7/2) and World Seniors champion Igor Figueiredo (25/1).
Allen is paired with the Brazilian, Figueiredo, in the opener, and shouldn’t have too many issues getting past the 47-year-old who has only really found success since dropping into the Seniors tour.
Gary Wilson won the Scottish Open and the Welsh Open last season and a run to the quarter-finals of the International Championship last week suggests that he could have a role to play in Group 1.
He’s up against World Championship runner-up Jak Jones, but will be considered a favourite in that opener considering the struggles that the Welshman has endured following his unlikely run at the Crucible.
On paper, it’s probably the weakest group of the four, with this underlines by an odds-on group winner in the “Pistol”.
2024 Champion of Champions Snooker – Group 2
Ding Junhui snuck into this tournament through the backdoor of winning Sunday’s International Championship, and scheduling/flight-tracking aside, the Chinese player will be happy with his form arriving in Bolton.
He’s third favourite at 7/2 with bet365 to win Group 2, but in doing so will have to topple world number one Judd Trump and the returning to form Neil Robertson.
Ali Carter joins at 6/1 in a dangerous quartet, but it’s Judd Trump at 6/5 who provides the value here, as he looks to reach his fifth final at the Champion of Champions in the last six years.
Trump has not only won the White House, but the Shanghai Masters and Saudi Arabia Masters already this year, as well as reaching another two ranking finals.
2024 Champion of Champions Snooker – Group 3
Group 3 sees the biggest surprise entry in Bai Yulu who is priced at a monster 200/1 to win through this quartet.
It’s a monster price for the Chinese player who reigned supreme at the Women’s World Snooker Championship in March earlier this year, and probably fair when you consider her lack of experience on any real big stage in world snooker.
She is joined by group favourite Mark Williams at Evens with bet365, world champion Kyren Wilson at 11/10 and 2023 world champion Luca Brecel in a pretty unpredictable segment of the draw.
None of these players have reached the semi-finals since the format was re-booted in 2013 and will pair up with the winner of Group 2 in the last four.
2024 Champion of Champions Snooker – Group 4
This is the ‘Group of Death’ of the Champion of Champions draw, placing former world champions Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy in with the in-form Wuhan Open champion Xiao Guodong.
O’Sullivan will always be priced as favourite in a group like this due to him, well, being the GOAT of the baize, and at 13/8 with bet365 offers up a good price to win two matches in a short format.
But the “Rocket” isn’t enjoying the best form at the moment. With loyalties to Saudi Arabia growing, O’Sullivan is withdrawing more and more from the traditional tournaments, so getting a read on how he will turn up in Bolton is tough.
He’s therefore probably worth avoiding, with Selby (9/4) and Murphy (3/1) worth a bit more attention, and Guodong a good outside bet at 5/1 to make it into the semi-finals.
