The odds on Kylian Mbappe to finish 2023/24 as the Champions League top goalscorer have shortened after Wednesday evening’s quarter-final clashes.

Harry Kane vs Kylian Mbappe

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland was in the race to win the Champions League Golden Boot this season but after blanking during the Sky Blues’ defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday, he is out of the running.

As a result, the Golden Boot is expected to go to one of Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane this campaign. Bayern Munich face Real Madrid in the semi-final of the competition later this month, with Kane heading into the game with seven goals so far.

After knocking out old rivals Arsenal this week, Harry Kane gave his thoughts on facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals:

“Real Madrid is of course a big club with an impressive history in the Champions League,” he said. “It will be a difficult semi-final for us, but that’s what the semi-finals of the Champions League are about: playing against the biggest clubs. We will now enjoy this victory and then prepare for the games.”
