Everton v Tottenham Match Preview
Tottenham will head to Merseyside seeking redemption in the Premier League when they face off against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
A 2-1 defeat in the North London Derby against bitter adversaries Arsenal heaped further pressure on Ange Postecoglou, and it proved to be another chastening night at the Emirates.
Currently 13th, Tottenham could slide to 15th by the time they drop in at Goodison Park.
Everton, meanwhile, may have dispensed with Sean Dyche and replaced him with David Moyes, but his return hasn’t heralded a change in fortunes or provided the proverbial managerial bounce.
A 1-0 reverse at home to Aston Villa in midweek will have left Moyes grim-faced, and Everton have won just one of their past seven league games which is deeply concerning.
But can Tottenham get things back on track? I’ve swooped in on the betting markets and plucked out a couple of tips to sit alongside my Everton v Tottenham predictions.
Tottenham to scrape over the line
A season that has so far been marked by inconsistency and an unyielding approach to providing entertainment at all costs, Tottenham’s season took another turn for the worse away to the Gunners.
In slumping to their 11th defeat in the Premier League, it represents their joint-most at this stage of a campaign (also 11 in 1997/98, 2003/04, and 2008/09).
While there would have been grievances over the corner awarded for Arsenal’s equaliser, a more clinical Gunners would have won by a greater margin.
Everton, on the other hand, are just a point above the relegation zone, and they seem to be in quicksand.
Moyes has his work cut out, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin was guilty of spurning several presentable opportunities against Villa.
Everton and Tottenham have generally been exciting occasions, and one where the Over 2.5 goals line has invariably been met.
The draw has been a popular result, but this time, I’m siding with Tottenham to clinch a victory, albeit it won’t necessarily be pretty. A 13/10 price is trading at Betano for this outcome.
Dominic Solanke to put Tottenham on the front foot
Of Tottenham’s attacking quartet, Dominic Solanke has left the biggest impression on me.
With seven Premier League goals to his name, Solanke has largely settled since his big-money move from Bournemouth last summer.
Not only that, but he has held the front line well, bringing others into play with his guile on the ball.
Despite their well-documented troubles at the back, Tottenham have contributed 43 goals in the league this term with only Liverpool scoring more (48).
Although he fed off crumbs against Arsenal and scored an own goal via a Gabriel header from a corner, I think Solanke will net at the right end this weekend.
To wrap up my Everton Tottenham predictions, I’m going with Solanke to break the deadlock, and Paddy Power has stumped up odds of 6/1 should you wish to investigate further.
