Get your excuses to your boss in early – Chelsea are in Europa Conference League action at 3:30pm on Thursday afternoon, travelling to a below-freezing Almaty, Kazakhstan to take on FC Astana.
Astana is the capital in central Kazakhstan but the match will be played in Almaty, 1,200 kilometres away, in the south of the country to avoid complications surrounding Astana’s ongoing stadium redevelopment.
Unbeaten, untested and unphased so far in the competition, Chelsea are four wins from four, scoring 16 and conceding just three; FC Astana linger in 23rd, with just four points and two goals scored so far.
