Genesis Invitational 3-Ball Betting Tips

The PGA Tour returns to Torrey Pines for the second time in three weeks for the Genesis Invitational.
It was scheduled to be hosted by the Riviera Country Club, but due to the wildfires that ravaged Southern California, the venue was duly switched.
One bit of news worth noting is that Tiger Woods has pulled out following the death of his mother, and it would have been his first official event since The Open last July.
There is always a buzz surrounding the Genesis given it is one of the eight Signature Events during the PGA Tour campaign, so it has some cachet.
After the raucousness of the WM Phoenix Open last weekend which saw Thomas Detry surge to victory, there will be an innate sense of calm this week.
Earlier this week, I offered insights into the golf betting tips outrights markets.
This time, I’ve handpicked some 3-ball betting tips with the first round looming so let’s get stuck in, plus our best golf betting offers.
Genesis Invitational 3-Ball Betting Tips - Round One
We have had a look at the odds from our top online bookmakers to provide the best available on the market.
Patrick Cantlay to beat Max Homa & Tommy Fleetwood
This has the ingredients to be a fascinating group, but not for the reasons you might expect.
Max Homa is searching for his best form and he missed the cut by five strokes at the WM Phoenix Open after rounds of 76 and 69.
Although Homa trusts the process and has a great swing, things haven’t transpired in the way he would have hoped this year.
Tommy Fleetwood, meanwhile, has only taken part in one event this season (AT&T Pebble Beach), and while he finished a respectable T22 there, he’s still leaving some putts out on the course.
In contrast, Patrick Cantlay has been the most consistent of the trio, with two top-15 finishes chalked up, and he finished fourth during his previous visit to the Genesis last year.
Across the week, he posted some strong numbers, and that included ranking 16th for SG: Off-the-Tee (1.116) and third for SG: Putting (4.297).
For my opening gambit, I’m going with Cantlay to take the honours in this 3-ball.
Justin Thomas to beat Wyndham Clark & Tony Finau
An enticing pan-American affair awaits golf enthusiasts for this tee-off, and one I’m looking forward to seeing.
Tony Finau experienced heartache in 2021 when he was pipped to the post by Homa in a thrilling play-off, so he will be hoping to go one better.
Wyndham Clark, meanwhile, missed the cut on his last outing at the Genesis with a score of two-over-par, so that is something he will be looking to rectify.
But Justin Thomas is the one who could catch fire, and he produced some vintage stuff at the WM Phoenix Open, finishing T6.
Success has eluded him in recent years, but he’s knocking on the door, and for the second of my 3-ball betting tips, I’m backing Thomas.
Hideki Matsuyama to beat Scottie Scheffler & Collin Morikawa
Perhaps the popcorn group, this could be a riveting watch and there are many fascinating angles into this 3-ball.
Well, Hideki Matsuyama is the reigning champion, and he produced a sublime final round of 62 to win the title, three strokes ahead of Will Zalatoris.
He just missed out on emulating George Archer (1983) and Ted Tryba (1999) for the lowest score (61) shot at the Genesis.
Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, will be taking part in just his third event this season, and things are shaping up nicely for him.
Collin Morikawa has also been in contention, and he ranks first this season across two key performance metrics — SG: Total and SG: Tee-to-Green, so that augurs well.
To conclude my 3-ball betting tips, I’m leaning into Matsuyama to get off to a strong start and win this group.
