John Deere Classic Betting Tips & Betting Offers

- Aaron Rai to win the John Deere Classic - 25/1 with BetMGM
- Sepp Straka to be First Round leader - 33/1 with BetUK
All roads lead to The Open and the John Deere Classic this week should offer some useful insights.
Moving from its traditional spot of a week before the final Major of the season, the Illinois-based event will now take place a fortnight before The Open, and after this week, players will hop across the Atlantic for the Scottish Open.
Low scores are very much the norm at the John Deere Classic, and while the two nines end with the two hardest holes, they are far from impossible.
Sepp Straka will be the hunted as he is the reigning champion, but there are some other past champions lurking in the field, including J.T. Poston (2022), Lucas Glover (2021) and two-time winner Jordan Spieth.
Anyway, Cam Davis, who triumphed at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last weekend, will be looking to go back-to-back.
Having finished T12 at the Masters in April, his game had deserted him, and he dug himself out of a dark hole to enter the winner’s circle.
But who will lay down a marker ahead of The Open? I have unearthed a couple of intriguing John Deere Classic betting tips to accompany my preview.
John Deere Classic Betting Tips
I have two tips for this week’s John Deere Classic, along with a collection of our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
Aaron Rai to break new ground
Heading into the 53rd edition of the John Deere Classic, a cursory glance at past champions shows there have been scant English winners.
But one man looking to buck that trend will be Aaron Rai. A solid outing at the Rocket Mortgage Classic saw him come home in T2, and he will be aiming to go one step further.
While a hot putter wouldn’t go amiss, those who have a deft touch around the greens will be duly rewarded.
This season, he has missed just four cuts from 18 appearances, and he has had three top-10 finishes too.
In terms of his performance metrics, Rai is eighth for SG: Total (1.190), and he could well post some low scores over the weekend.
For the sake of value, I’ve gone with Rai to get his maiden win on his 86th PGA Tour appearance, and I’ve located an inviting price of 25/1 at BetMGM for that outcome.
Sepp Straka to set out his stall in Round 1
Straka’s credentials at the John Deere Classic are undeniable, and as mentioned, he will have a target on his back as the reigning champion.
Results have been mixed of late, and he will be looking to rediscover the form he managed in and around the Masters where he enjoyed four top-15 finishes in a row.
The Austrian’s driving accuracy (77.76%) is solid, placing him second for that performance metric, and he could go strong.
Although last year, Straka was well off the pace as he was 11 shots adrift off the lead after a two-over par round on Thursday, Straka shot a blistering round of 62 on the Sunday to catapult himself to glory.
While he might come up short this weekend, he could lay down a marker in Round 1, and hold the lead. BetUK has obliged with a long but not too fanciful price of 33/1 should you wish to pursue it.
