FA Cup Football Accumulator Predictions
FA Cup Accumulator of the Week
It's a bit of a change in pace this weekend with the first round of the FA Cup, and with plenty of non-league teams still in the competition and sure to cause an upset, we're keeping our powder fairly dry in terms of outright results.
Reading v Fleetwood - Reading to win
We've gone for a League One v League Two match-up in our first pick, with Fleetwood travelling to play Reading.
Both teams are doing pretty well in their respective leagues, which is why I'm leaning towards the Royals and given that they have the best home record in the third tier, I'm slightly surprised they don't have shorter odds.
They have won the last four home games on the bounce so I think this should be one game that goes to form, with the side higher up the footballing pyramid coming out on top.
Port Vale v Barnsley - BTTS
I definitely have my eyes on this game as a potential upset, even if Barnsley are a pretty solid League One team.
Port Vale for starters are at home, but they go into this game on the back of five successive wins so will be full of confidence and that's a warning sign for sure.
Barnsley on the other hand are very hit and miss. They'll be around the play-off places I have no doubt this season but you never know what to expect from them, and if what season ticket-holder Craig Jones often tells me is true, they're a prime candidate to go down here but make a good game of it.
Southend v Charlton - BTTS
Our columnist Clinton Morrison picked out the next two games as potential upsets, and who am I to disagree with him?
Charlton are a big club but have never quite taken off under Nathan Jones in League One and a trip to Southend should be a pretty tasty one, despite the non-league status of the Shrimpers.
The Addicks should still fancy their chances, but I reckon this will be a good game and I wouldn't be too surprised if it finishes level after 90 minutes.
Rushall Olympic v Accrington - BTTS
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on Rushall Olympic, but looking at the fixtures, that's one non-league team that stands out to me.
The artificial pitch will be a leveller and I just think it will be a really uncomfortable experience for Accrington, even if they have the better players.
I wouldn't be surprised if the home side win the tie and cause a major upset, but let's play it relatively safe and go for a BTTS in this one.
