Thibault Tricole to beat Joe Comito & most 180
Up to number 74 in the world, Frenchman Thibault Tricole is making his second appearance at the World Championship.
The 35-year-old succumbed to a 3-0 Rob Cross whitewash last season, but is considered a big favourite against Joe Comito who is making his debut at the Ally Pally at the age of 43.
Comito will be pretty wet behind the ears in north London and if Tricole is on song the Australian won’t land a glove on him in this race to three.
4/7 for Tricole to beat Comito with the most 180s looks good at 4/7.
Jermaine Wattimena vs Stefan Bellmont – First set under 3.5 legs
Jermaine Wattimena has been as predictably unpredictable as ever this season, but has shown flashes of brilliance to suggest he has some big performances in him.
The 36-year-old has never got past the third round at the World Championship, but after a run to the final at the European Championship and quarter-final of the Grand Slam of Darts, spirits will be up in the camp of the Dutchman.
Stefan Bellmont is number 124 in the world and making his World Championship debut.
The Swiss World Cup entrant beat Jimmy van Schie in qualifying to become the first player from Switzerland to play at the World Championship, but is expected to have bitten off more than he can chew against the talented Wattimena.
Keane Barry to beat Kim Huybrechts
Kim Huybrechts has struggled on the PDC Tour across the last couple of years.
He has reached one singles quarter-final since 2017 (at the 2021 World Series of Darts Finals) and is failing to qualify for some of the big ranking tournaments.
At 39, the Belgian will be worrying that his career is snowballing, and on paper Keane Barry looks like the kind of player to take advantage in the early stages of the Worlds.
Barry showed well at the UK Open this year reaching the sixth round, and is now in his sixth World Championship having fallen to MVG last year – Huybrechts is a pretty good draw for the Irishman and 11/10 is a good outright price for a win.
