A five shot victory at the Wells Fargo Championship, with a marvellous back nine to round off his Sunday, McIlroy is now heading to Valhalla full of confidence.
His display caught the attention of the bookmakers, who have trimmed his odds to win the USPGA Championship, he is now a best price of 17/2 with Unibet.

With some bookmakers, McIlroy is as low as 11/2 to win the USPGA this week, putting him as the clear second favourite behind Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler comes here after he won The Masters last month, so we all know what he can do on the big stage.

McIlroy Shines on Back Nine to Land Wells Fargo
Seven holes into his final round on Sunday, McIlroy was two shots behind Xander Schauffele, and while it looks like being a terrific duel between the two, McIlroy eased away in scintillating style.
The next eight holes saw him claim four birdies and two eagles, all of a sudden, McIlroy was six shots ahead of Schauffele, and on his way to winning the title.
He would end recording a round of 65 for a score on the day of -6, and win the tournament by five shots, with Schauffele in second.
It’s now back to back titles on the PGA Tour for McIlroy, who claimed the Zurich Classic alongside Shane Lowry two weeks ago, setting him up perfectly for this week.
The Irishman last won a major championship in 2014, and it was this event at Valhalla where he claimed that success.
