RSM Classic 3-Ball Golf Betting Tips

The RSM Classic takes centre stage this week on the PGA Tour as the FedEx Cup Fall reaches its climax.
Welcoming 156 players to the Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia, all loose ends and other business should be tied up.
Some are on the bubble or fringes of the top 125 and will be desperate to shore up their PGA Tour privileges for next season.
With a prize purse of over £7million, there is plenty up for grabs, and as mentioned in my preview earlier this week, Ludvig Aberg holds the tournament record (-29) which he achieved last year en route to winning the title.
The focus of this preview will be to analyse some of the best groups and 3-ball betting tips, so let’s see who has caught my eye then, plus our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
RSM Classic 3-Ball Golf Betting Tips
Check out my three selections for the opening round at the Plantation Course on Thursday - ideal for an 8/1 golf acca.
Ludvig Aberg to beat Matt McCarty & Luke Clanton
This 3-ball has a mixture of talent, and Luke Clanton is the only amateur featured in this group, so it will be fascinating to see how he fares.
Just his eighth career PGA Tour appearance, Clanton has made six of the seven cuts, and he’s already had two top-five finishes, so that augurs well. Don’t forget, he’s only 21.
Matt McCarty, in stark contrast, is more of a late bloomer, and 2024 has already seen him make a maiden visit to the winner’s circle.
But Aberg, who is the reigning champion, has been in the mix or upper echelons of the leaderboard most weeks, and he’s my pick to come out on top this week.
JT Poston to beat Brian Harman & Nico Echavarria
There is plenty of firepower in this group. While Brian Harman has plodded along at times, he ranks 24th for driving accuracy percentage (66.29%), and he’s 14th for distance from the edge of the fairway.
Nico Echavarria has at times slipped under the radar or been overlooked, but he’s had three top-10 finishes under his belt, and the Colombian should have done enough to keep his PGA Tour spot for 2025.
But J.T. Poston, who has made 19 cuts from 24 appearances this season, was a winner last month at the Shriners Children’s Open.
Despite having a month off, I expect him to pick things up from where he left off and pip Harman and Echavarria in Round 1.
Matt Wallace to beat Camilo Villegas & Ryan Brehm
Ryan Brehm is the odd one out as he’s yet to taste success on the PGA Tour, but the 38-year-old has had an undistinguished career.
Sitting 170th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, Brehm could well lose his PGA Tour rights. Judging by the season he’s had, it's been a narrative of missed cuts so little surprise there.
Camilo Villegas, similarly has been in the doldrums, missing four cuts from his past six appearances, although he will take a T47 at the Bermuda Championship last weekend which provided a much-needed payday.
However, Matt Wallace, who is 65th in the world golf rankings, has strung some results together with two top-30 finishes in a row.
It may not be a round brimming with birdies, but Wallace, I think, will have enough to get over the line on Thursday.
