On the one hand, Tottenham’s display at Southampton last Sunday was nothing short of scintillating. On the other hand, it was against a Southampton side that has been nothing short of a shambles this season.
Spurs running rampant at St Mary’s and in doing so recording five goals in the first half alone and although Saints supporters were probably having collective PTSD at the thought of another 9-0 defeat, the second half did see the North London outfit go down through the gears.

The reason for this is because of Chelsea’s imperious form as of late and although the Merseyside men have slightly stuttered in the past couple of weeks, their Stamford Bridge counterparts have won five in a row before their trip to Everton on Sunday.
Whether Liverpool’s local rivals can offer a short-term helping hand remains to be seen but regardless of what happens on the other side of Stanley Park, there is no doubt that we are starting to learn a little more of this current Anfield crop.
A crop that refused to be cut down against Fulham last Saturday and with the Cottagers having a man advantage on the field for more than hour, it looked as if Rodrigo Muniz’s second half goal would give the visitors the biggest advantage of all.
That was until Diogo Jota dragged Liverpool back into the game for the second time that afternoon and although the final score may feel like two points dropped in its immediacy, that additional point could make all the difference on the final day.
While who knows where Tottenham will be on the final day and although you can make a case for them to finish in the European places, maybe even earning a Champions League the same counter argument can currently be made for finishing either side of the top 10.
