Wales v Ireland Match Preview
We might have just had the first fallow week of this year's Six Nations, but that doesn't mean there was any shortage of headlines around the tournament.
It had seemed inevitable after a 14th straight defeat and another at the hands of Italy, but Warren Gatland's second spell in charge of Wales finally came to an end last week, in a move that probably suits all parties.
It's fair to say it wasn't quite the happy marriage between Gatland and the WRU this time compared to before, and the New Zealander hasn't been able to turn things around with a new generation of players.
It was clear at the end of the autumn internationals that all was not well and Gatland's resignation - although there is a thought that that move was more of a powerplay - was rejected by the WRU, but they have been forced to move after two miserable performances so far in this year's Six Nations.
It would be fair to say that the 22-15 defeat to Italy was actually flattering to Wales if anything, with a late fightback adding a bit of respectability to the score - it also gave us two winners in our Italy v Wales tips - so a game against Ireland is the last thing interim head coach Matt Sherratt would have wanted.
Sherratt is a well-regarded coach and has opted to bring back some of the experienced players discarded by Gatland and put faith in some club combinations, so I think we will see quite a spirited display from Wales and maybe the absolute mauling that might have been expected, could be wide of the mark.
It's probably not controversial to tip a comfortable Ireland bonus-point win, but I could easily see a scenario in which Wales produce a passionate, resilient display and throw one or two punches back to offer some hope to fans.
Ireland have named a pretty strong side though, while still making a couple of changes.
With the Grand Slam on the line and a Lions tour to play for in the summer there is plenty to be gained in every match of this tournament, so I don't think they will be taking anything lightly.
I think Ireland getting the bonus points is a safe bet, but think Wales will get one or two themselves which means we're looking at something like a 21-25 point winning margin for Ireland, which you can get at 11/2 with bet365.
If we're looking at tryscorers then I like Jamison Gibson-Park to cross the whitewash.
In a game that could be quite broken up, his support lines will come to the fore so at 9/5 with SpreadEx to score anytime looks good value to me.
