Italy v Wales Match Preview
We might only be two weeks into the tournament, but it already looks like everything is on the line for Italy and Wales ahead of Saturday's clash in Rome.
The two sides are likely to battle it out for the wooden spoon over the course of the tournament, making Saturday's game their biggest of the campaign as they seek to avoid finish rock bottom.
You would have to say it is Italy who go into the game in slightly higher spirits, having competed for most of the game against Scotland last week despite coming out on the wrong end of a 31-19 defeat in Edinburgh.
They maybe lacked a cutting edge but they were up against a pretty strong Scotland side, so losing by 12 points away from home is by no means a disgrace and they will have very fond memories of last year's tournament fresh in their minds.
They beat Wales in the final game to go alone with a draw with France, a narrow defeat to England and a win over Scotland, leaving Wales well adrift at the bottom.
That will be why they head into this game as comfortable favourites, and there aren't many times that will have happened since their introduction to the Six Nations.
We don't need to speak too much about Wales' form. They have lost 13 matches on the bounce and really, there aren't many signs of that stopping.
Even if the run did come to an end this week in Rome, would it make much of a difference or just paper over some cracks? There are huge question marks over Warren Gatland and a defeat here could spell the end for his second reign as head coach, and I don't see him being in charge next year.
One thing you can rely on from Wales teams is for them to play with heart and I think they'll give it a good crack out in Rome but they will fall short, so you can get Italy winning by a 1-7 point margin at 11/4 with Paddy Power which looks pretty good, considering they won by just three points last year.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of Ange Capuozzo this weekend. He didn't really have the chance to shine against Scotland but we know he has more to give, and I'm backing him to get the first score as Italy open up a little more and that's 8/1 with Betfair.
