Rangers vs Dundee Match Preview, Predictions & Free Bets
The Scottish Premiership is in focus on Tuesday night, and we are off to Ibrox as Rangers host Dundee.
Time Running Out
Now that the dust has settled on the latest edition of the Old Firm derby, this season’s Scottish Premiership title race is all but run.
After The Derby
In football it is never over until it is mathematically over, something that Rangers supporters will be clinging onto before Tuesday’s visit of Dundee. However, after Philippe Clement’s men suffered another loss to Celtic on Saturday, the blue half of Glasgow now need a mathematical miracle.
Before the midweek round of Scottish Premiership action, Rangers find themselves six points behind their arch rivals and with just two rounds of the season remaining, this is a fundamental problem for the Ibrox outfit.
Just six points left to scoop up, just hoping that Celtic somehow scoop up none for themselves. Not only are Rangers supporters hoping for an incredible amount of fortune when it comes to upcoming results, they will also be hoping for a glut of goals to go with it.
Six points behind the Hoops and a worse goal difference to go with it. Rangers find themselves behind the eight ball in the final week of the season, they ideally need to score eight goals across their next two matches.
The first of those is a Dundee side that put a huge dent in their title hopes before the split and with Tony Docherty’s men playing out a bore draw with the title hopefuls just a few weeks ago, it also played a major part in the Dens Park outfit finishing in the top six.
A top six finish opens the door on potential European qualification but just as Rangers need a miracle to achieve their ultimate objective, Dundee need Lady Luck to shine if they are to secure a trip to the continent.
Their own equation is just as difficult to solve and with St Mirren and themselves fighting it out for the last of the European invites, it is the Paisley-based outfit that have a five-point advantage of their Dundee counterparts.
Therefore, anything less than a win for Dundee at Ibrox on Tuesday night would see their European dream dashed. A win for Rangers and it would at least extend their title hopes for another 24 hours.
Should Rangers fail to win themselves, then the title will be handed to Celtic without them even needing to kick a ball and their trip to Kilmarnock the following evening will be nothing more than a celebratory affair.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with Rangers needing a maximum, I’ve opted for a bet builder to get us underway. A home win, both teams to score as the Gers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three and a Cyril Dessers goal is nicely priced at 11/4.
In addition to this, I will lean into the both teams to score element above and opt for a correct score bet to go with it. A relatively comfortable win as the hosts win by three goals to one and this is currently priced at 10/1.
