The Sky Bet Sunday series heads to Haydock this afternoon. The winning times suggested the ground was on the soft side of good for their card on Friday night, but a dry forecast is expected.
5.15 Haydock
At the time of writing Ed Walker has won with two of his last three runners and I hope his good run continues with AMERICAN FLAG who makes his handicap debut after three promising runs in maiden/novice company.
The selection was hemmed in at a vital time and lost momentum when third to a subsequent winner – now rated 90 – at Salisbury when last seen back in June. He has been gelded in the interim period, has a good draw – if he gets out on terms – and I like the booking of Tom Marquand.

American Flag can win on his handicap debut
At 11/4 a £10 bet would return £37.50

I am writing this before the run of The Owen Burrows-trained Anmaat in the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes here on Saturday. The stable have had a couple disappoint earlier in the week and I would like to see a good run from the John Smith’s Cup winner ahead of the run of TARRABB in the fillies’ handicap.
The filly scored at Ascot over 7f last time when she had Walker’s Canoodled back in third and the latter looks guaranteed to appreciate the step up to a mile. The selection is not guaranteed on breeding to need a mile, but she was not stopping over Ascot’s stiff straight seven and she has a good draw in stall six.

Owen Burrow's Tarraab has a good draw and should go well
At 3/1 a £10 bet would return £40

HEAT AND DUST (Nap) lost her race at the start when losing many lengths at Epsom last month and, in the circumstances, I thought she ran a cracker. The winner – Scampi – defied a 5lbs rise when scoring in the Racing League at Doncaster on Thursday and Sir Mark Prescott’s daughter of Oasis Dream had previously won her last couple. Simon Walker is a positive jockey booking and the selection, at the time of writing, is entered at Carlisle on Tuesday evening.
John Spearing’s 8-y-old It’s How We Roll has won two of his last four and carries a 4lbs penalty for scoring over C&D on Monday evening. He is in the form of his life, but I just favour the filly who is half the age of her market rival.

Heat And Dust is Charlie's best bet of the day
