Established in 2013 and based in Malta they are the main sponsor of English League 2 side Leyton Orient and betting partner of the higher profile Aston Villa.

Football appears to be ingrained in the EnergyBet web site. It heads the list of an amazing 45 sports which the site offers betting markets on and it’s also given the main position when visiting the EnergyBet ‘Live Betting’ page.

That ‘Live Betting’ page is actually a real gem. It features a ‘sports search’, a couple of different viewing options and a neat ‘Live Calendar’ which means you can view all the upcoming live sports during the week ahead.

EnergyBet Mobile Betting

You can bet with EnergyBet UK from anywhere on any event 24 hours a day on your mobile device or tablet. That’s because the site is fully compatible with all modern mobile devices, opening in a browser.

A specific EnergyBet betting app is probably in development as it’s more established sister site, EnergyCasino, has an excellent one which works seamlessly on iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows devices. The EnergyCasino app has loads of games to choose between and range from slots to jackpots to table games.

Betting Markets / Features Available

But a few wet days doesn’t make a winter and there are plenty of rays of sunshine to brighten up the EnergyBet experience. For example, you’ll need sunglasses to overcome the EnergyBet ‘Sports’ page which is colourful with icons labelling up each and every one of the sports on offer.

Alongside each sport the number of events which you can bet on is clearly displayed and a few clicks later you can see the odds on offer. Incidentally they are set by default to display as decimal but this can be easily changed at the top-right-hand-side of all pages.

This is an interesting feature too as it truly displays the accuracy of the EnergyBet site. For example it’s not uncommon to see a selection priced-up (in the decimal format) at 2.01. But when the ‘fractional’ display is selected that same contestant shows up at 101/100. That’s not a price you see every day!

Bet placement is very straightforward with a nice big betting slip appearing on the right-hand-side of the page. Something that is really helpful is a ‘show limit’ button within that slip which displays the maximum stake you can place on any bet. Alas it also shows that limits are relatively low.

Combination bets, such as doubles and trebles can be placed but classic perm-bets such as Yankees and Canadians, yet alone variants with ‘double the odds for one winner’ like ‘Lucky 15’s’ and ‘Lucky 31’s’ are not offered.

Of course before you can place a bet you need to have an active account and that is equally simple.

  • Firstly click ‘Register’ and on the opened form create a username and password, enter your email address and enter an EnergyBet promo code (if you have one).
  • On the next page type in your name, address, date of birth (do note this is done American style meaning year/month/day) and your chosen currency.
  • Hit ‘Register’ and you will soon receive a confirmation email. *Note, the 100% ‘Welcome Bonus’ that email refers to is only for EnergyBet Casino players.

Once logged in you will be able to view your own details within the ‘My Account’ section.

Advantages

In addition to your account balance, game history and payment history, you will be able to take advantage of one of EnergyBet’s best kept secrets, the ‘EnergyShop’ which lets you exchange loyalty points, acquired through your play action, for a selection of gifts. They range from t-shirts to iPads and sunglasses to Mediterranean cruises. The EnergyBet live betting section is also impressive.

To get playing you are obviously going to need to make your first cash deposit, for UK and Irish players EnergyBet give you five simple deposit/withdrawal options: Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller and PaySafe. It’s standard stuff.

Meanwhile the ‘Help’ section scores above average in our EnergyBet review with four ways of contacting customer support staff open to customers: Telephone, Live Chat, email, and traditional post.

Disadvantages

The lack of EnergyBet free bet is very disappointing, as is the amount of EnergyBet offers currently available but we expect this to be remedied in time. There were no Cheltenham betting offers when we checked but again this may well change so keep an eye on the EnergyBet promotions page.

Punters who like to do exotic multiple bets such as Yankee’s and Lucky15 will find these type of bets are not accepted at the time of writing (only singles, doubles, trebles etc), but we expect this relatively new sportsbook to improve and evolve.

Summary

So all-in-all we have a very easy to navigate, not overly-decorated, sports betting website. Promotions certainly thin on the ground but the number of sports offered is breathtaking. Beyond EnergyBet’s clear love for football, eSports features prominently with this fledgling site incidentally.

A close inspection of the EnergyBet odds displays a very clear formula for devising their margins and they are very fair indeed. Reverting to our earlier 2.01 or 101/100 scenario earlier, how many other firms would overly concern themselves with giving you an extra 100th betting point? It does directly convert into 1% after all.

Verdict: Not an oil painting but a very pretty picture worthy of more than a passing glance.
