After winning the competition in 1992, the Danish national side suffered something of a fall from grace, struggling to make it out of the group stage and not even qualifying for two of the following tournaments.
However, a new generation of talent has emerged in Denmark and they will now be looking to build on their semi-final finish at Euro 2020 this summer.

Denmark Euro 2024 Top Tip
After failing to qualify for Euro 2016, Denmark were extremely impressive at Euro 2020. The Danes dominated Wales and Czech Republic in the knockout phase before eventually losing to an impressive England side.
This year, Denmark are expected to make it out of their group with relative ease and have a good chance of once again going deep in the competition, especially if Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund can continue his recent goalscoring form into the tournament.
Denmark are currently priced at 5/1 with BetVictor to reach the semi-final stage of Euro 2024.

Denmark’s Road to Qualification
Denmark had one of the easier qualifying group for Euro 2024, facing off with Slovenia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland and San Marino.
Unsurprisingly, Denmark topped their group, winning seven, drawing one and losing two matches.
Slovenia, who Denmark will face in Group C this summer, finished on the same points as Denmark but they topped the group thanks to their head-to-head record - beating Slovenia 2-1 and drawing 1-1 in their two meetings.
When are Denmark’s Euro 2024 games?
Denmark will play three Euro 2024 group games. The opponents and dates can be found below:
- Group C - Slovenia vs Denmark, June 16.
- Group C - Denmark vs England, June 20.
- Group C - Denmark vs Serbia, June 25.
Denmark’s Road to the Final
Anyone who is looking at backing Denmark for success will want to know how they can get to the final. Their paths are determined by where they finish in the group, either first, second or third - and here are the various permutations that they will have to navigate.
Round of 16
- If Denmark win Group C - Their last 16 game will be against one of the 3rd-place teams from Group D, E or F. This game will be played on June 30.
- If Denmark are runners up in Group C - Their last 16 game will come against the winners of Group A - a group containing Germany, Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. This game will be played on June 29.
- If Denmark finish third in Group C (and accumulate enough points to advance to the knockout stage) - Their last 16 game will be against either the winner of Group F - Turkey Portugal, Czech Republic, TBD - or the winner of Group E - Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, TBD. These games will be played on July 1 or July 2.
Quarter-Finals
- If Denmark win Group C - They will face the winner of the last-16 clash between the runner-up of Group A vs the runner-up of Group B. On paper, their most likely opponent will be Italy. This game will be played on July 6.
- If Denmark are runners up in Group C - They will face the winner of the last-16 clash between the Group B winner vs one of the 3rd-place teams from Group A/D/E/F. Their most likely opponent would be Spain (coming in as Group B winners). This game will be played on July 5.
- If Denmark finish third in Group C (and accumulate enough points to advance to the knockout stage) - They will either face the winner of the last-16 clash between Group D and E’s runners-up or the winner of the game between Group D’s winner and Group F’s runner-up. These games will be played on July 5 or July 6.
Semi-Finals
- If Denmark win Group C - Many assumptions have to be made by the time we get to this stage, but if things go as expected, Denmark will face either Belgium or Portugal in the semi-final. This game will be played on July 10.
- If Denmark are runners up in Group C - Again, a lot of assumptions need to be made here but Denmark’s most likely opponents are France or the Czech Republic. This game will be played on July 9.
- If Denmark finish third in Group C (and accumulate enough points to advance to the knockout stage) - Given how the third-place teams are put into the knockout phase, Denmark could face any of Germany, Spain, Netherlands or Belgium. These games will be played on July 9 or July 10.
Final
- If Denmark win Group C - On the opposing side of the draw in this scenario would be the likes of Germany, Spain, Netherlands or Portugal - of said clubs, Spain seem the most likely to make it to the final. The final will be played on July 14.
- If Denmark are runners up in Group C - On the opposing side of the draw in this scenario would be the likes of Belgium, France, England or Italy.
- If Denmark finish third in Group C (and accumulate enough points to advance to the knockout stage) - Denmark could be put onto either side of the draw depending on how they rank among the third-place teams, meaning they could face any of the big hitters we have mentioned above.
Denmark’s Key Players
Rasmus Hojlund - Denmark’s main man heading into Euro 2024 is Manchester United striker, Rasmus Hojlund. After a subdued start to life in England, Hojlund has found his goalscoring boots for the Red Devils over the last few months. He also has seven goals in 10 appearances for Denmark’s senior side - form he will be desperate to continue into Euro 2024.
Christian Eriksen - Despite being 32, Christian Eriksen is once again set to be a key player for Denmark this summer. The midfielder is expected to become the most-capped player in his country’s history this summer. He is also the fifth-highest scorer in Denmark’s history - the highest-ranked midfielder on that list ahead of Michael Laudrup.
Andreas Christensen - If Denmark are to stop the bigger sides this summer they will need a solid backline. This is where Andreas Christensen comes in. The 27-year-old has been a key cog in Denmark’s backline for many years now and he continues to impress on a regular basis for FC Barcelona. The centre-back is also capable of slotting into midfield, making him a valuable asset for any manager.
